Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.
This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!
This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***
I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.
Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.
I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".
This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.
This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.
An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......
In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

Also on memorial Memorial# 26820746, Notice that the individual is listed as both his own son and father. All 3 links point to the same person.

Hi Again Donna,
Memorial #26820746 (William Harrison Porter, Jr) links to himself as his own father.
His Correct father is memorial #173164584 (William Harrison Porter, Sr).
I probably entered the wrong ID when I submitted it to you, my apologies.

My name is Gary Gouchie, I was at the main office for Ridge Lawn for info. On my Grandfather. Simeon Snook they told me he was in section D 207, could not find him. The file card they gave me says section B 207. You # 51802199 says it is in section E. Could you help me on the real location section to look for him again, Thank You, Gary

Hi Donna, looks like your memorial #52126118 is a duplicate of memorial 40057718 - lease delete it? Thanks!

I followed the link on his page, but can't find that info you provided. I did find his burial on the site, but not the admission. Can you provide some help etc? Thanks

Oh, gosh, please do not worry about timing. I know how many memorials you manage and can't fathom the requests you must get.
Please do not worry about getting to my stuff quickly, I know you will eventually and I am sure there are folks out there that are far less patient!
My favorite cemetery is Protection, I guess cuz my 3rd great-grandfather owned the land and so many of my ancestors are buried there. But in my family research, I keep ending up back at Humphrey and just have a desire to put a face on the people, so many of whom were the original settlers of Holland.
I'll keep plugging away and adding stuff, you take your time in adding what I send as your time allows.
Your photos are lovely and as always, I am so thankful for the time and care you have given to this cemetery and its residents!
|Marnie Hawks Thompson||BARROW/BARRON|
Hey Donna-Hope you are well. I am working on adding info to Humphrey's residents-I am so intrigued with this cemetery and so concerned about the articles I read that talked about the farmer who many years ago "plowed under" many of the memorials.
I made an error and hope you won't mind helping me fix it. I created a memorial for Orren Barro-N (#171469809) and added a bio as well as links to his wife and kids. Then I found your memorial, Orren Barro-W (#30061966). Would you mind changing yours to Barron rather than Barrow and then copying the bio from mine to yours and adding the links to your memorial? If that's ok with you, I'll wait til you finish, then I'll go back in and delete the one I created.
So sorry about that!
