Bio and Links
Bio Photo The descendants of the old settlers, those who cleared the land and first upturned the wild sod to the sun, should see that the doings of those early years are fittingly remembered and recorded.
It was once remarked by a great writer that those who take no interest in the deeds of their ancestors are not likely to do anything worthy to be remembered by their descendants.

Please leave flowers or memorials on my memorials, I believe everyone deserves flowers, and I have a great family. Thank you in advance.
A BIG thank you to those who send histories, death notices, obits and links to add to the memorials. They are wonderful additions.
You may use my pictures and information for your family trees but I do like credit. This is all put on findagrave for your family trees because so many people have helped me with mine. Thank you.

Please read Find A Grave's Transfer Requirements before requesting a transfer "THE FIND A GRAVE GUIDELINES FOR TRANSFERRING MEMORIALS ARE: Spouses, Parents, Brothers and Sisters, Children, Grand-children, Grandparents, and Great-grandparents. Please use the "EDIT" tab to ask for a transfer BUT PLEASE do no ask for a transfer that is not within these guidelines and PLEASE STATE YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE DECEASED.
Putting requests on this site you will be ignored, and erased. Ignorance is not bliss it is just embarrassing for you.

For extended family members you can add
Virtual Cemeteries as we have done.

PLEASE USE the "EDIT" TAB ON THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE OF THE MEMORIAL TO SEND CORRECTIONS AND REQUESTS FOR TRANSFERS. Will gladly add any obits and will add links to family members. "

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn.

You did not know that I exist You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our heart contracts and beat a pulse Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so.I wonder if you lived and loved,I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, And come to visit you.

James Perry Bates
I have sent you the plot info for James and created a memorial for Frances (Scott) Bates.
Secondly, I have found and requested links for several of their children. I will add info to Arthur's bio shortly.
I hope that you will find this helpful.

Hi Barbara,
Concerning above memorial, is the current spelling your original submitted? It is nothing like the tombstone, which looks like an odd spelling also.
The common variation for that period was Schadt.
I know you have no control now but I just wondered if your memorial was altered.
Thank you,

Re: Howard Clayton McAfee, Jr.
Hello, Barbara ~

Thank you so much for the SPEEDY additions of birth and death place for Howard (# 39175786). I've just added a couple of images, and saw that these were already done. It's so nice to be able to fill in the gaps, isn't it?

I do have a question that you may be able to answer. I was surprised to find that, in spite of Howard's length service as Lt Col in the Air Force, serving in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam (Whew!) that there is apparently not a grave stone for him that can be photographed? I assume that is the case, as there is no photograph, right?

If this is so, perhaps it is a regional difference in custom? (I'm a native and resident of Missouri).

Please let me know - I have another relative with similar circumstances (Civil War) - I can write the Dept of Defense about two veterans as well as I can about one. :-)

Thank you ever so much,
Teri-Sue, C # 47322396
