Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love American history, I like dealing with names, and I love solving problems. It was just a matter of time before I got into genealogy!

None of the memorials I have posted are my relatives, and hence I have not researched them. I do try to add some detail to memorials though in an effort to identify the person.

If you want to write me about any of the memorials I've created, please leave a message on this page. To suggest a correction or edit for a particular memorial, please use the Edit button at the top of its page. I do not automatically approve all suggestions, meaning I need some sort of proof of new information. If I can't find any proof myself, I will ask you for it. (Note: Family trees on FamilySearch or Ancestry are NOT sources, and I will not add something just because it appears in someone's tree.)

If I have posted a memorial of one of your relatives and you would like the memorial transferred to you, please use the method that FindaGrave has provided, which is thus: Go to the memorial page and click the Edit button. Of the choices that follow, click on "Suggest any other correction or addition." This will bring up a message box for you to write me, and the email FindaGrave sends will include a link to the memorial as well as to your profile page. Simply write me a note requesting the transfer, and tell me how you are related to the person.

Any gravestone pictures I shot myself as well as I could. Please copy and use them! Post them in your family tree on Ancestry or wherever. That's why I took them.

Last, I would ask folks NOT to post death certificates on my memorials because I feel they are not appropriate for a picture. It's just my preference. I'd be happy to enter any information from a death certificate that isn't already on the memorial. Please do not post any other documents either, such as census pages, on my memorials.

FindaGrave is a great website even though it's basically all about deaths! Still, it makes me think of the verse "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." (I John 5:11)

RE: Sarah J. Coots Ewing
Sarah is a very distant relation of my Great Aunt Bertha Gentz. I would be happy to take her memorial to maintain and any others in her family.

Thanks for asking.

William Hambly
Dear Julia:

I have somehow lost your last message after reading it.

Can you please give me the website again for looking up William Hambly's death certificate in Marquette, Michigan?

Kindest and warmest regards,

Wood Hughes

Dearest Julia:

Oh, you are so preciously kind!!! And what great work you do for me and for so many people!!!

William T. Hambly was the elder brother of my great grandfather, Harry Hambly; who immigrated to America either with William, or just after.

Thank you so much for the information on how to obtain William's death certificate! Yes! I do want to go to that website! It may open more doors for me!!!

Most kindly and warmly and gratefully,

RE: William T. Hambly
Dear Julia:

Reading your message - I wish I knew you! You're a very determined woman! I enjoyed your firmness immensely!!!

What is rather strange is that you filled out the information in Find-A-Grave on April 27th - the same day of the year that you listed William Hambly's death.

So, naturally I thought you may have unconsciously erred and entered that date there. What a remarkable coincidence!

I also thought that someone could have mistaken the burial date for the actual date of death (since my records state the 23rd as the date of death).

I went by some very old family records; and I did it at a time long ago before the internet made things so easy for us!

So, I stand corrected! And I commend you for your very, very valuable work (and for your strong spirit)!!!

I wondered if you still have the death certificate of William - that you could email it to me???

Kindest and warmest regards,

Wood E. Hughes

RE: Agnes D. Homeier, # 124079370
Hi Julia,
I would be happy to take over the care of Agnes' memorial if you are willing to transfer it. I can create the memorials for George and Rose and request gravestone photos.
I am always thankful when I can link someone's grave to other family members because I feel like this helps to keep them in our memory. I have a special feeling for those who died young, and I am grateful that I have been able to link several of them to their parents. Sometimes I even have a photo, like the one of my mother's little sister (Margery Ann Gill, memorial #103231721). I only have photos of Agnes' mother Rose, but perhaps another relative will have a photo of George.
Thanks so much for all your help.
