Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.

I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thanks, Patty
This is great information. Crofal was my mother's second cousin. I had his name wrong and hadn't made the connection to this grave.

Thanks for taking the photos of Matthew and Catharine Wolfe Rayhill's headstones, especially the one with both. Nice to have the context. I'm related to them too.

I'm asking you to do it because you've walked the cemetery.

Thank you

Re: David Huffine.
Would you mind putting in a edit for the memorial manager to note on the memorial that there has been no headstone found. Thank you

Patty, hope you and your husband are doing well, My brother Dan and I went to visit my mother and attended the Maundy Thursday service at Dulin today, and spent the day doing genealogy research on the Dulin Church families. I have photos of the dedicated stained glass windows that I will be adding them to the Oakwood memorials in the coming weeks, along with some of the other things we learned. Rev. Dave in his sermon spoke of the (Circus) Bailey family in church several weeks ago and Wikipedia says that they were prominent members of Dulin. I know that one of Lewis Bailey's sons married a Shreve but I believe she died within a year with no children. Do you know any thing about the Bailey conection to Dulin? We then spend four hours searching for and photographing graves at Oakwood. We got our hands on the book of plot maps and photographed them all, it does not have individual graves but does list many of the family plots, by section. I don't know how much help it will be but I now have a copy of it. I also am ordering Fairfax Gravestones Vol. III which has 4500 entries for Oakwood any that are not on Find-A-Grave (soon will be). Dan saw it recently at the Virginia Room at the Main Fairfax Library and says the cemetery takes up about 150 pages of the book. Again if any of my memorials are related to the Shreve's and you want me to transfer them let me know. Also I'am one and a half hours away rather than ten Hours so let us know if you need for us to look for something for you at the Oakwood.

Photograph of Captain Ike Turner 5th Texas Infantry Regiment
Dear Ms. Shreve,

Hello, my name is Joe Owen and I am currently writing/editing a book about Hood's Texas Brigade at the battle of Antietam fought on September 17, 1862. One of the soldiers in the battle who wrote an official report of it was Captain Ike Turner. I have noticed that you have his picture on his findagrave website. With your permission, can I please use the photo for the book? Of course I will list you as the source, or whoever you designate as being the source.

Thank You very much and I look forward to hearing from you.
