Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a native of Virginia and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. My career brought me from Richmond to Atlanta in the 1980s and Georgia has been my home ever since.

I became interested in and my family genealogy after my mother passed away in 2010. She was a proud native of South Georgia. I've posted many photos of my mother, family and friends so their memory will live on.

"To live in hearts we leave behind
is not to die."
. . . Thomas Campbell
from Hallowed Ground

After my mom died and I began my genealogy research, I found she had many family photos going back several decades--many of which I've posted on this site for present and future generations. Then there's always a few family photos with people, places and dates unknown.

Strangers in the Box . . .
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
All the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Very historic and the oldest known publicly-owned burial ground in metro Atlanta,
Decatur Cemetery is believed to predate
both Decatur's 1823 and Atlanta's 1845 incorporation.

Two of the most historic and beautiful cemeteries in the entire South ...
Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia opened in 1849 and Bonaventure Cemetery
in Savannah, Georgia dating back to 1868.

Thomas Wilcox and Mary Wilcox
Hello Tim,
Thomas is my 3rd Great Grandfather from my mother's side. My mother was from Alma GA and I still keep in touch with family there. My question is in regards to Mary (McMillian) Wilcox, Thomas's second wife. I believe I have found her gravesite in Bacon County, but I read a note in "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" that Mary is supposedly buried next to or near vicinity of Thomas. I am wondering if you can confirm this? I have not yet been to Thomas's gravesite, but hope to go this summer. Also I was told that Thomas's gravesite is on private property. Do you know if that is true?

RE: Pictures of Jennings family graves
Henry T. Jennings and Sarah Jennings are my great great grandparents. (I am descended from their other daughter, Bealle, who is buried with her husband in Virginia.)
Now I will be able to add other information to their memorials.
Thanks again, Emily

Pictures of Jennings family graves
Thanks so much for posting the pictures of the Jennings family graves.

Your photo of the larger plot is especially interesting because it also shows the graves of two of their daughters. I knew Carrie had never married and was buried with them. I knew their daughter Mary (also know as Mollie or May) had married Thomas Gardner but I hadn't been able to find when she died or where she was buried. And there is her grave, next to her parents' graves, in your picture.

Tim -

Thank you so much. I will remember you, if I need help in Decatur Cemetery. By the way, I was born at Emory Hospital in Decatur!

RE: Gilbert Gordon Alexander memorial
Tim -

Thank you so much for creating and transferring to me a memorial for Gordon Alexander. That's one more of W. D. & Irene Alexander's children's burial sites found.

I also really appreciate you posting all the ALEXANDER grave photos. Your photos certainly enhance the Find A Grave website and are a true labor of love.

I so love when i can see what people looked like. I am directly related to the Chandlers. Do you know who's who in the photo you posted?
