Thank you for visiting my page and for all you do here at Find A Grave. I enjoy this website and have met new friends and distant cousins as a result. Thank you to everyone who has provided photos, links, and other information.|
The vast majority of my memorials are relatives. Some close, some distant, others in between.
Please be sure to use the Edit tab, then the Suggest a Correction . . . link when requesting updates, transfers, links to family members, etc. This feature is designed to eliminate frustration on all parts due to misspellings, having to search through multiple memorials, etc. Unlike some, I will not ignore/delete your public message regarding the above without first contacting you, but do require you use the proper avenue.
Find a Grave guidelines stating: "Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren." are, in my view, just that. If you're more closely related than I and have information to add to a memorial, I'll more than likely transfer to you. Be sure to state your exact relation when requesting a transfer.
It would be most appreciated if you would not post obituaries or death certificates as photos on any of my memorials. Also, please note that Find A Grave guidelines state you should not post biographical information via a Virtual Flower. I think it may partly be because the creator/manager of the memorial is not notified when a Virtual Flower is left, and may not run across this vital information for days, months, or even years.
"The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone." Harriet Beecher Stowe

|byron larson||Severt (Sigvard) Larson|
My name is Byron Larson, I was doing some new research on my great grandparents Severt (Sigvard) and Christina Larson when I ran across the website find a grave. I was trying to find out where Severt was buried, I had visited a cemetary in the Foston Minnesota area about 35 years ago but I didn't remember where it was or what the name was. I was greatly surprised to see a photo of the headstone and additional information as to where he was born. In the past 30 years of on and off again into checking family history I had never found where he had come from within Norway. Under additional information I see four of their daughters listed but none of their sons. I will be able to fill in some of the blanks as the boys came to Canada around 1912-1915. My grandfather Carl Alfred included. Please contact me by email so we can compare notes and see what our relationship is.

Thank you. Preston was my grandfather. Since the obituary had all the names misspelled and 2 of his daughters are still living (one of them my mother), I think that is a good idea. I appreciate what you've done.

You are welcome. Anything I send I do not need credit for it, but appreciate you doing that. Thanks, Jesse

We were back out at Oak Ridge today. If you can find out even a Section, it would help us look for them. Do you have a death date for Mary? They are not in Section H, as we canvassed that entire section today. With the date of death you indicated for John, they are not likely to be in the "old section" either.
|CarmasKid||RE: Chiles photo requests at Oak Ridge Cemetery|
I was glad to hear from you again. I wrote the information about it that is included on the cemetery's front page at Find A Grave. My husband's parents are buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery and I have done a lot of work there recording graves. I usually take a look at the photo requests each time we go out there.
There are a number of local cemeteries that begin with, "Oak," and I think I have previously looked unsuccessfully for the Chiles grave so I wondered whether I was looking in the correct cemetery. Sometimes I forget that other people are not on the same page as I am. From your additional info I'm sure you have the correct cemetery. Oak Ridge is privately owned and, unfortunately, not as well maintained as it could be. The death date occured before the cemetery was transcribed in 1998. Since the surname is not included in the transcription (which was painstakingly completed by the DGS) it could be that the grave is unmarked or that the stone had been destroyed prior to the date of transcription.
The cemetery does not have a regular office but they do have records. You might try to contact the sexton, Alan Bradford. His family owns the cemetery and he has been cutting their grass for over 30 years. He could probably tell you whether there is a stone, and might even take a picture for you with his cell phone. I know he has done that for someone else. You can leave a message for him and he will call you back. His cell phone is: 734-775-5159. Keep me posted.

Are you sure of the cemetery name? I have the transcription done by the Downriver Genealogical Society in 1998 and that surname is not indexed.
