Thanks for the link. The cemetery record has the death as Sept. 26. Will try to get out and get a photo of the stone to confirm it either way. I added your note on the SSI index to her memorial.

Ean Family
Annette,

George Ean was my grandfather...my mother was Wynette Ean. I guess that makes us relatives.

Sorry, no relation to the Ean's. Just a simpleminded volunteer! :-)

I think you hit the nail on the head as this article was in the Grant County News - March 15, 1888 edition. I asked my husband about Watson Mountain and Mountain Creek. He knows that area and said there is a Mountain Creek up Waterman Flat and Watson Mountain may have been a "nickname" for another mountain in that area. Thanks for the info:)

I found this story in the Grant County News, 1888, and wondered if you recognized the names. The name of the column is "How Mountain Creekers Get Married". It mentions Watson Mountain and Foppiano donkeys. I think the person who wrote this had a sense of humor:

RE: Faye Thompson
Who's memorial was made first gets to stay. The other should be deleted. If mine was made later, it should get deleted. No hard feelings. I usually check first before I create a memorial. Sometimes I make a mistake. Thank you for asking.
