I have researched ancestors in the Franklin County, Vermont area for more than 30 years. While I have never lived in the area I have compiled a pretty large database. I am now only 4 1/2 hours away and hope to locate the graves of many of my "on paper" family. Thanks to the many people who submit photos.|

|Gemeniguy||William H. and Julia Moody Hoffman Memorial|
Thanks for photographing the William H. and Julia Moody Hoffman memorial in South Hadley Falls Cemetery. They were my wife Catherine's maternal great grandparents. We had nothing about them except for census records and a story passed down from Catherine's maternal grandmother Julia Ann Hoffman Hebert (one of the daughters of William and Julia Hoffman). Julia Ann told one of her daughters that she left home in the middle of the night never to return home again except for once. Conflict with her father and sisters which I'm not at liberty to reveal. Julia Ann returned home only once when she was told by a non-family member that her mother had died. She returned home after dark and looked through the window of the Hoffman home to view her mother one last time. No one in her family ever knew she was there. She never made any contact with her family after leaving home even though they lived less than 200 miles apart throughout their lives. As such, we have no Hoffman family photos and know nothing of their family life. Hopefully we may be able to make contact with one of the descendants of Julia Ann's siblings some day.

Please do. I did find a reference to South Hadley Falls in the Index Card files, so I updated the information. I would love to know the date of burial at South Hadley Falls.

Yes. The issue here is that Springfield Cemetery records are clear that he was, in fact, buried at Springfield Cemetery on May 16, 1883. The specific location was noted on the Cemetery's 1928 survey map. There appears to be no record of his removal (no matter how intentioned) from Springfield Cemetery.
This is an instance where ground penetrating radar (GPR) equipment may help settle the question. I have such equipment but need assistance due to disabilities. Unfortunately, I can not find serious volunteers.

Thank you for the transfer. I will see if I can get some research done on him after I finish the project I am on now.
Would you like it transferred back once I do?
