Dear Fellow Researchers:|
You may use any of the information I have added to Find-A-Grave, including photographs. You may use them in your family tree records or you may add them to Ancestry.com, etc. There is no need to ask for permission as I am delighted that you found it valuable to your research.
Corrections and suggestions are verified but rejoiced over.
You are encouraged to request transfers from me, especially if you have more information to add to the memorial. The only exception I might make is if the person memorialized is in my family tree, or was a close friend of mine.
The easiest way to facilitate a transfer is to use the edit tab on the memorial ("Suggest any other correction or addition") to make your request. Don’t forget to provide your Find-A-Grave member number. Please be considerate as transfer requests will probably just fall through the cracks unless you provide your member number. (Your member number is at the top of your profile page.)
Due to time factors it might take awhile, but requests (especially from people who provide their numbers for quick and easy transfers) will be carefully considered. You will receive a response.
Find-A-Grave has been extremely helpful to me. I hope my contributions will be just as beneficial to anyone searching for more information about their family.
If you have a moment, please stop by and leave virtual flowers for my great-grand-uncle Gib Smith. His story is part of the reason I volunteer for this site. Thanks, Jan

Great news! Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness appears to be back online.
The original Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK) website was in operation for more than a decade, benefitting thousands of genealogists. In mid-October, 2011, Bridgett Schneider sent an email message to all registered users stating that major problems had developed with the site’s hard drive plus the overall health of the administrator was not favorable. The site went offline.
Sadly, Bridgett Schneider passed away Nov. 12, 2011. The site never came back online, until now.
The http://www.raogk.org web site now states, “RAOGK is a global volunteer.

I thought it no longer existed. I couldn't navigate myself around. There are lots of links, maybe I can do it now. :) Thanks a bunch. I'll let you know if and when I'm successful. Have a good fall season. Darla

Hello Jan, I just wanted to tell you I attempted to contact the previous photographer, no response. I thought it was my lack of ability to navigate that I couldn't get in touch with RAOGK, then I saw this today on, Marianne's page (#47147246):
"After the great age of using only pen, paper, stamps & libraries to do research work, I discovered the INTERNET & started working online as a local volunteer with the original "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness/RAOGK" website operated by Doc & Bridget Schneider, working with them for over 10 yrs until the site ceased operations. I've continued as a volunteer, researcher, contributor, Cemetery Transcriber on Rootsweb, Pa-Roots & the USGenWeb Project in Pennsylvania."
I plan to ask her if she knows anyone in the area that might check it out. Thanks, Darla

Hi, Jan, today I discovered we both had a memorial for this fellow, and I tried to delete mine. But Find-a-Grave said I couldn't because I wasn't the originator. Then tonight I see they took the obit you added to yours, along with the information, and added it to mine.
So, If you would like to have it I can transfer it back to you. Just let me know. Not my family. Is he in yours?
Sincerely, Dorothy Brandner, EPCA

|Margie D||Thank you|
Thank you so much, Jan, for the photo of the grave marker for Vernon Mitchell! I have removed the excess info from the memorial as you suggested. Much appreciated!

Thanks. You taught me something. I had never done that before.
