A Special Invitation: If you think or know that we are related, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I love to find long-lost relatives, both close and distant!!!

**************************************************

Hi, I was born and grew up in Pikeville, Bledsoe County, TN. Since I began researching my family tree in 2007, I have learned many things about thousands of relatives that I had never known about.

I know there are many people who are, or soon will be, searching for their roots as well. I hope the information that I place on this website will assist them in locating a long-lost relative.

I'm researching the following family lines, as well as MANY OTHER LINES associated with Bledsoe County, Tennessee and MANY OTHER STATES: Allison, Anderson, Bowman, Boyd, Bradford, Campbell, Clifton, Cooke, Craig, Curry, Green, Hale, Hall, Hawkins, Holland, Larcome, Massey, Maxwell, McCoy, Pendergrass, Pleasants, Russell, Simmons, Skillern, Snow, Stanton, Steip, Stipe, Stipes, Wheeler, and others.

I'm thrilled to report that, after a multi-year effort, I'm now the proud owner of one of the elusive "Skillern Family History and Genealogy" book.

My private database contains in excess of 127,000 individuals, although I have posted only a tiny percentage of my data on Ancestry.com Family Tree, Find A Grave, etc.

I recently had my DNA analyzed through Ancestry.com and 23andMe.com. The information contained in these test results continues to be invaluable to me in my quest to learn more about my family history, my health, and where my ancestors lived thousands of years ago.

According to my haplogroup, my Boyd line is believed to have originated in a place now known as Doggerland. You can learn more about it at the following websites:

Happy hunting!!! :)

ANCESTORS OF YESTERDAY

Ancestors of so long ago,
I'll search until I find.

Till I can prove and clearly show,
that you are truly mine.

I'll follow behind your trail of tears,
the hidden footprints of time.

Covered and buried throughout the years,
and continue each mountain to climb.

I'll search every faraway seaside shore,
and every valley below.

I'll unlock each and every door,
as my own teardrops flow.

I'll unearth the buried history of you,
and your own ancestral kin,

I'll search for that all important clue,
and open my heart to let you in.

Dear Ancestor,

Your tombstone stands among the rest:
Neglected and alone,

The name and date are chiseled out -
on polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn -

You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.

Yet, each of us are cells of you:
In flesh, in blood, in bone.

Our blood contracts and beats a pulse -
entirely not our own.

Dear ancestor, the place you filled,
a hundred years ago -

Spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew -

That some day I would find the spot;
And come and visit you?

Memorial # 63325086
Hi Sammy, My name is Bonnie and I maintain over 36,000 memorials on find a grave, and up-dating as many as I can find or sent info on daily. Yes I am a Genealogist nut also, And have 19 three inch books on our families alone and looking for more as I have the time for.
But
I am sorry to have to ask you to please remove the Death Cert from the fore mentioned memorial, as I have found so many with incorrect info, & missing info (not saying that this one has any) so I have requested that they not be put on any memorial that I have Created or Maintain, and would appreciate you removing the one you placed on the above mentioned Memorial # also.

Have a great day, Good luck with your searches.

RE: Dr. John Robert Iler
Hi... thank you for the info. I do know about her second marriage. Dr. John Robert Iler is my great uncle. He is the half brother of my grandfather. I forget his name... but there was a wonderful genealogist in Louisiana that posted lots of wonderful information on that family. I imagine you've seen it too. I guess that makes us related by marriage... a small world! Have a Happy New Year!

Dr. John Robert Iler
You are correct. John Robert Iler (1859-1915) is the son of John Tolbert Iler and Margaret M. Cae. I just noticed this... and will ask the person who maintains this record to make this correction. Just thought I'd let you know that someone noticed your note!

Thomas Dicks
I took the photo of Thomas Dicks today. I just wanted to let you know that he is buried in a different cemetery, he is in Anderson Memorial Gardens. Nathan Anderson Cemetery is right next to Anderson Memorial Gardens. So if you wouldn't mind changing the burial info on Thomas Dicks memorial page it will be more accurate.

RE: Elsye Lorraine (Layton) Ekstrom
Hello Sammy,

Elsye Layton Ekstrom is my maternal grandmother. It is through COL John Anderson that I joined the Daughters of the American Revolution. It's always nice to "meet" a new cousin!

Sincerely,
April
