Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Memphis, TN, raised in Jackson, MS, and moved to Dallas in 1967.

My father was Jesse Thomas White.

My mother was Clara Vanderberg White .

You are invited to visit their memorials to see their ancestors.

I am addicted to FindaGrave and genealogy research in general. I have had the good fortune to connect with a number of cousins through this website.

Most of my research is tracing family members in Mississippi.... Panola, Quitman, Calhoun, Yalobusha and Hinds Counties.

My Family Names: White, Vanderberg, Vanderburg, Potts, Jenkins and Hupperich.

My wife's family: Pitt, Sapp, and Newcomer's, mostly from Oklahoma, and Baldridge from Tennessee.

"I have never met a cemetery I did not like", and
"I can not go to a cemetery and take just one picture".

I am also a volunteer photo taker at Grove Hill and Oakland Cemeteries in Dallas.

If I have added one of your family members or family friends, let me know and I will transfer them to you.

A number of the pictures added and memorials created in the Memphis and North Mississippi area have been contributed by my cousin, Becky Vanderburg Abbott.

Any photograph I have added to any memorial may be used by the general public, without credit to me.

Alma Laura Escue Dunavant 108521035

You had requested a change to Alma's bio over a year and I have just gotten to it. I apologize for the delay. I was without a computer and I am just getting to the old emails.

If she is your relative let me know I would be happy to transfer.

Duplicate memorial
Hi Tom! I noticed that you created a memorial for Wesley Allen Pappy Dude Pool Jones in 2012. Memorial #99906910. There is already a listing for him since 2009 that I manage.

RE: Calvary Cemetery in Dallas
Hi Tom, you can email me at

My maternal grandfather was Richard Atkins 1913-2004.
His mother was Catherine Bell 1876-1944 and her sister was Mary F Bell 1883-1930 married to Thomas J McGrath 1874-1924.

We have not had any contact with any of the McGrath's until recently I made contact with Thomas J McGrath's 1954-2013 long time partner. Unfortunately she does not have much info on the McGraths for me.

So, any info, pictures, contacts would be of great assistance for me in building this side of our family history.

Many thanks

By the way, I didn't have time to look at any of the areas near the McGrath graves, so it still might be worth you going out there and looking around. Good luck.

Tom, to save you some time searching when you go out there, if you go in through the east entrance behind the Walmart Market, the McGrath graves are about half way down on your left before you get to the circle at the middle of the cemetery. They are near a crepe myrtle tree. I swung by there and took a very quick look on my way into town. I didn't notice that there was a marker for Catherine nor was there any other names on the McGrath Monument other than Thomas, his wife and a son that died as a child. But you still might want to photograph the plot area.

Tom, I don't know that I photographed all of them in that graveyard but I did photograph pretty much the majority of them. There have been several people who went out there over the years after I was there and tried to find and photograph any that were missed. My guess is that cemetery has been completely photographed with the exception of any recent burials which would probably be few. There are in fact several un-marked graves there! I would suggest you find the monument for Thomas McGrath which I had photographed near where Mary Frances Bell McGrath is buried and see if Catherine has a marker anywhere near there. If not, then it's probable she's buried with that family in an unmarked grave. You also might want to check the McGrath monument itself on all sides to see if maybe any other names were added.
