Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born and raised in Western South Dakota with strong Germans from Russia roots, but now live in Tennessee. Primary family lines I'm following include: Schaefer/Lux/Deutsch/Littau/Drefs/Mundt/ Schatzthauer/Hogg...and then some. Would like to find the final resting places of as many relatives in the US as I can, but am going to need some help. In return I'm hoping I can assist folks looking for families in the Memphis area.

If you'd like a memorial transferred to you just ask, follow the FAG guideline of including your ID #, and unless they are part of my family tree, I'd love to transfer them to you. If they are part of your tree they belong with you not me. My pay-off is in connecting folks up with their history.

Reitter
Right,

And the very different stones. But death years may have played a role, which isn't clear on Peirre or Peter and if he died last it may have depened a lot on who was doing the paperwork, like a second wife or something. But you are right lots of interesting stories.

Thanks
Melissa

Hi Dale,

I was out working in Elmwood yesterday and found Peter Reitter (#147052935) - I don't have plot info on him but he's in the section with Bg. Gen. Vaughen. I think his wife is Louise D. Reitter (142612492 or 94977732) but I think you have her twice once collected in 2012 and once collected in 2015. The picture is the same stone but you have two different plot numbers and the spelling added an "n". Anyway if and when you have some time take a look. Also, I'm not positive on the years for Peter Reitter either because they were hard to read but they should be close. Hope you are well.

RE: John W. Collins
Is that stone specific to him or just a general area where he and other are laid to rest?

I'll be explaining all this to someone else and need to have all my information in order. :)

Thanks.

Thank you so much. I know he dies about 4 or 5 months after enlisting and was buried there. Is that just a simple identifier (based on cemetery records) of "701" carved on the stone? I also appreciate the extra photo of the other Civil War gravesites.

Thank you again.

Thanks so much for posting the image for this gravesite. I am working with a great-grandson on this family and he really appreciates you doing this. He plans to visit Memphis and this cemetery. However, don't know if you can correct an error. Col. Thornton was a lawyer, not a doctor. His son, James, was the doctor.

Again, thanks.
