ATTENTION: I will be relocating to Florida, sometime between the 1st of April and August of this year. (2014) There may be VERY long delays in getting to corrections, updates, additions or transfers. For everything, EXCEPT transfers; If these things cannot wait for me to get back in the loop, please refer them to the admins at findagrave. I must apologize, in advance, for this situation, but I cannot discover a solution, for this dilemma, since my time will, temporarily, be occupied with more pressing matters|
Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

Memorial 40067766 is my grandfather and I would like to link his children to him at Findagrave. Would you be willing to transfer him to me to add family? If not could I give you the memorial numbers for his ten children so you can connect them to him and his two wives?

You are managing two of my ancestors. John Frederick 39664902
Elizabeth Staley Frederick. Where does it say Staley on the gravestone or how do you know definitively her maiden name is Staley? I have been searching for her maiden name. Also, if they aren't your ancestors, could you transfer them to me?

Thanks for your input; always appreciate keeping us accurate!
|Grim Reaper||Benjamin Oswald 1842-?|
you declined my corrections for Benjamin Oswald, but you wrote down the extra information that I email you. you are saying that he was born Kittanning and he was born 1842... the information that I send to that you wrote down on his bio. says that he came to Kittanning in 1838.. so how could he be born in 1842 in Kittanning if he was already born and did not come Kittanning till 1838.. I also notice your information come from a book that was written in 1919.. My information came from a search/history book that was written 1845 and was rewritten in 1986..

Hello thank you for the transfer. Also I was wondering if you had any pics of George and Jonathan C Grumblings grave stones. I saw that you had some memorials of people buried in that cemetery so I thought that I would ask. Thank You!
Emily Marsh :)
Thank you for the transfers. They are my mother's father's family. My mother and Uncle a buried on the other side of Charles and Shirley's marker.
My Grandfather's family are descendants of France.
