Grief never ends,|
but it changes.
It is a passage,
not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of
weakness or lack of faith...
it is the price of love.
I don't make more than a couple memorials a day on average, but have done research into the families of lots of them...same for many whose pictures I post...making me glad to help with most anyone's ancestral brick walls however I'm able.
While Google-ing along roads we biked over 50 years ago, I've noticed some homes, buildings, and even streets in my elementary school neighborhood missing while others are basically unchanged...made me think I should keep add/linking together those families I grew up with...sure wish my home-town newspaper archives were online so I could find the details of a murder that involved the Green Wing Grocery!
Obviously FindAGrave is like any other pyramid-type set-up...so as the membership increases, memorials and pictures left to be added decrease. There are already over 125,000,000 memorials; so considering that half the people who ever lived on Planet Earth are living now, and that it's unknown where over 90% of the dead are...how many does that leave? ½-LOL and go figure.
The picture "request" function started around mid-2007, and pix were limited in size to 250K: a comparatively tiny 1/32 of 8M now allowed; at first there was only one guy and me taking pix in Arlington National (all that white granite for matching military markers comes from Vermont...not China :^), and there weren't many requests, so you can see how membership and contributions have exploded! I've had to tell my eager grandboy that there will probably be little picture-taking left to do when another seven years pass, just always recent deaths to add.
Fodder is running lower, but there are still helpful and personally-rewarding "angel" tasks to be done...2015 is bringing FaG-ers the ability to upload pic from onsite, and then others to help with the transcriptions.
ANY information on privately-owned and defunct burial places is still ALWAYS appreciated by those seeking the trails of their ancestors...are they still there lying unmarked and disrespected? Were they moved elsewhere? Are they near other family and/or friends? I was gladly able to do this for the cemetery nearest to me in kidhood that I never knew about way back then ~ when I held my breath in passing cemeteries ~ as it was already defunct...altho' one of my brothers once found a toppled headstone while bike-riding (him, not the headstone) dirt roads there.
Those who are willing & able: little burial grounds usually need cleaning and repairs; but don't go alone, and be careful ~ I myself have encountered snakes and Black Widow spiders...and been told creepy tales about the LIVING I might encounter. Which reminds me I did visit one cemetery that had a homeless? person living in it...not there, but I didn't want to bother his? belongings.
You many kind, prolific contributors might try adding people from their death records found online...including where you got the data from and that they probably have no marker so the living don't get false hope for a picture.
Other Less-Important Stuff:
Some might think others of us are too possessive about pictures we take and post, but you probably haven't encountered someone who deletes memorials after lifting the pictures others added to them...then remakes the memorials with same pictures claimed as their own. It takes just one rotten apple ~ a few manipulators, stalkers, and egotistical game players who appear to have no life with the living ~ to require others to generate reports on such childish activity...and restrict the rest of the barrel.

My Reasons for Being on FindAGrave:
I oversaw the newsletter of Colonel David Hackworth, military author/ commentator/ columnist with 8 Purple Hearts, for several years until he died from the effects of Agent Blue (used along with Agent Orange in Vietnam) while my husband was off in a war zone; at which time I needed a new focus and determined to pin-point our then-totally-unknown ancestors: at least 28 Revolutionary War Patriots, his Mayflower and Salem "witch" ancestors, my "hanky-panky in the palace" people...and many *ships who pass in the night* ~ then sometimes remain friends ~ who have been great fun, challenges, and blessings to find.
So, at the onset in 2005, I was first able to find basic facts of the missing Major James Powell, and began a two-year mission to restore his legacy which was lost upon his death at Shiloh 145 years ago today as I write this 06APRIL2007. This long walk, still being shared with both living and non-bodied souls, is what educated me in how to usually quite rapidly find pertinent data for you "strangers," which I still remain happily willing to do!
My biggest peeve in research was seeing my favorite greatgrandmother constantly referred to as "Mrs. G.: husband's first initial and married name" ~ most ALL females losing their identities up into the 1960s; so I'm elated whenever I successfully work the puzzles ~ better than word math, sudoku, or cryptograms ~ of finding and posting ladies' maiden names as the most appropriate and long-lasting FLOWERS to their memories, and alas, I still have just ONE nee name in my own Heck(ofA)family to dig up. May all of Granny Vance's roses perpetually bloom bright and happy!🍹
The book of life is brief,
And once the pages read
All but love is dead:
That is my belief.

God is Love.

Now there are two memorials for Charles Junior Williamson - #112770143 and #142734066. Both with your name on them - the newer one is more complete.

Hi - thanks for acting quickly to get these memorials corrected! There is one last item:
memorial #9921747 has a photo submitted by you that doesn't belong to it and can be deleted. The same photo is already on the correct memorial #142734066.

|Shannon D.||Hello and Thank You|
I happened upon your contributor page from a memorial you manage. It was only by chance because I was searching for someone I don't know. But I want to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed your profile/bio and appreciate your thoughts and wisdom. Basically, it is wonderful to have met you if only online.
Wishing you a blessed day.

Ruth Campbell, Eva, Bernie Williams are not familiar to me. I have an Edith and an Eleanor amongst my Grandma's sisters / half sisters. I think you are talking about Joel's first wife? I need to reread and revisit your messages!
