Stories of my Illinois ancestors were shared with me by my great grandmother Grace Ellen Smith Scanlon at an early age and this sparked a deep interest in genealogy. After many years of library and Internet research I decided to visit the areas where my Smith, Rowland, and Wilkerson ancestors once lived. I've now made several trips to Illinois, specifically Montgomery County, and over the course of these visits have developed an intense interest in documenting cemeteries. My main focus is on abandoned cemeteries that are difficult for many to visit and are in the greatest need of being documented. |
It's exciting to research how everyone in a cemetery is related to each other and I enjoy getting emails from descendants who have discovered pictures of their ancestors graves here on this fabulous site.
Closer to home my Mom and I are helping with photo requests and general clean-up at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale.
As part of my masters thesis I am currently researching and finding the graves of all the victims of the St. Francis Dam disaster.
I do my best to provide complete and accurate information in all my postings. Corrections are encouraged! I will gladly transfer memorials to family and I am happy share my photographs, but please give proper credit: "Ann Stansell, Find A Grave #46964942". If I have offended anyone by adding their loved ones to the site please let me know and I will promptly remove the memorial.
I can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org

|chris maes||RE: pPhoto request for Joachim Kliemann|
Ann- You are very welcome. My pleasure is doing this for others. I have read the story about the events that led to his passing. I had no knowledge about the dam break until reading it. I am sorry for your loss. Chris
|Vincent Howard Beazel||Hey City Cousin!!|
I have been active in FindAGrave for a few months!! I saw that you had your link on your FB page. I just posted my dad and son's names at Joshua Memorial in Lancaster. None of them were listed on FindAGrave.
|William McIntyre Danner||Headstone - Molohon, George & Pansy|
Thank you for your photograph of this headstone. I have added it to my family tree which contains the families of my daughter's mother-in-law who was born a Haire, and Haire was Pansy's birth surname. I have added the photo credit per your request and as I do for every headstone photo I ask permission to use from Find A Grave. In this case it reads: "Photo Credit: Ann Stansell, Find A Grave Member # 46964942. Used by General Permission as stated on her Find A Grave Profile."

I want to say again what a treasure you have been to us here at Find a Grave and give you my gratitude for the transfer of Margaret Groner so that we may keep our family "together."
|Carol McLaughlin||Memorial Transfer|
Thank you very much for the transfer of my 2great-grandmother, Minna Gieselmann (St. Raymond/Asbury Cemetery) at Raymond, IL. Could you also do that for her husband, my 2g-grandfather Frederick Gieselmann, d.1878/1879; his tombstone is located beside hers, just to the north of her stone.
Next, since I am a new member of FindaGrave, what are my duties regarding these transfers? I have learned how to add/edit information listed for people, but I don't know what my real responsibilities are for the future.
Thanks for your help,
Carol (Engeman)(Gieselman) McLaughlin
Henry County, MO

You have thoughtfully included an obituary for this woman as a graphic image in her cemetery listing ... but it's so small that I can only read bits of it, even when expanded as large as it will go. By any chance, do you still have the scan that you uploaded? If so, might I have a copy? This woman is part of a Tompkins family that I've been chasing for 25 years, and recent DNA results have made me even more eager to push for a breakthrough. Thanks for your work at Find A Grave, as well as any help you can provide on this obituary.

Thank you so much for the transfer. Have a wonderful day!
