Bio and Links
Bio Photo As a teacher and with a BA in history, genealogy became a natural outflow for learning the past. Learning of ancestors being involved with major historical events have made those historical events become more personal and alive. My wife, son, and I live in historical New England and enjoy the ability to visit many of the historical places of our country's beginnings as well as some of the oldest cemeteries. The photo you see is of my grandfather, Goduise Joseph Lagace, in the 1920's.

Fort Ann burials
The records that I have call the cemetery Orcutt, I entered what I had. Later someone else entered it as Sly Pond. I have never been contacted about resolving the issue.

Mary Howard #46550057
Hello Peter,

Nice to "meet" you. Thanks for the updates. I was able to confirm her date of birth from the age on the Death Register. Also, it seems that you're indicating that her mother's maiden name is "Sackett?" I used that in her bio but if it's incorrect, let me know.

Thanks,
Dave Robison

Peter:
I have found the interred date on the burial
record search many times to actually be the date of death. Also, I have found gravestones in
Plymouth cemeteries that are not documented
on the burial record search.

Hope this helps with your research.
Have a good day,
Sandy

RE: Robert Howard
Hi Peter,
Sorry but I don't go to the Brockton cemeteries.
I usually stay in Plymouth.
I have 5 "Howard" memorials:
1) Eleanor (Cobb) Howard 1750-1826
2) Eunice Howard 1788 - 1791
3) Capt. James Howard 1777 - 1818
4) James H. Howard 1807 - 1832
5) Capt. John Howard 1748 - 1788

All are at Burial Hill.

If you would like I will transfer them to you.
(Eunice was actually transferred to me along
with many other memorials from Burial Hill.)

Have a good night,
Sandy

RE: Capt James Howard
Peter,
I am very impressed that you figured out the
3 gravestones for the same person. Sorry but
I had to laugh when I read it!
I do appreciate your bringing the Capt. Howard
problem to my attention. I am glad that it is
almost straightened out.
I will be spending a day off from work up at
Burial Hill. The Howard photos need to be re-
taken along with many others.
It seems that when Find A Grave sold to Ancestry
all the photos that were on the memorials at
Burial Hill lost detail. Not just mine but
also my friend Caryn's. I have already replaced
some of the photos.
I want you to know that it has been great working
with you. If you ever need anything in the Plymouth, MA area just let me know, if I can help
you out I will.
Take Care,
Sandy

RE: Capt James Howard
Hi Peter:
Yes, what a tangled mess!
A lot has been cleared up.
Mayflower Pilgrim the manager of two
of the children (1) John W. Howard and
(2) Ellen (Howard) Congdon has changed the
link of the two children from Oak Grove Cemetery to the memorial at
Burial Hill. Now all three children are on
Capt. James Howard's memorial at Burial Hill.
I have hyperlinked my memorial of Capt. James
Howard to his memorial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Now the problem with his wife. I have asked
Joan Ellis Pulis the manager of the Oak Grove
memorials (Capt. Howard & wife Hannah) for
management of the memorials. I do not know if
she will give them to me. If not I will ask her
to change Hannah's link from the Oak Grove memorial of her husband to the memorial at
Burial Hill. Then all the links will be on
the Burial Hill memorial.
Ideally if given management of the Oak Grove memorials, I would like to add a hyperlink to
Capt. Howard's memorial so you can
toggle back and forth between the memorials and
I would add "see Burial Hill memorial for family
links."
I will go through the memorials of Capt.
Howard and wife Hannah & their children again
later after I return from work.
Peter, it is not unusual for there to be two
gravestones for the same person in two different
cemeteries, at least in this town!
I have found a family plot at Chiltonville Cemetery with many members of the same family
buried together with indication on the gravestone
that one is buried at Burial Hill. That is not
the only one I have found. Some indicate that the
actual burial is elsewhere, others not.
My latest memorial on two gravestones is:
Judge Charles Henry Warren #157054940. The
only reason that I knew he was actually buried
at Burial Hill was because it was indicated on
the cenotaph at Vine Hills.
I will keep you updated on the Howard memorials.
Have a good day,
Sandy

RE: Capt. James Howard
Peter:
I did not state that the GPR indicated that
a burial was found at the Capt. James Howard
plot at Burial Hill, just that GPR was pre-
formed at Burial Hill.
Capt. Howard is not the only one at Burial Hill
to have another stone at Oak Grove. It is my
understanding from the cemetery dept. that
Burial records were not kept from Burial Hill
until the 1920's. I have quite often gone to the
cemetery dept. to speak to Diane McGuire.
We do not know if Capt. Howard was reinterred at Oak Grove which is a possibility, or perhaps his name was just added to his wife's gravestone to
indicate relationship.
Peter I do not want to get into a great debate
about Capt. James Howard with you. Nobody knows
exactly what is what, just that there are two
headstones in different cemeteries. I will hyper-
link my memorial to Capt. Howard's memorial at
Oak Grove.
Take Care,
Sandy
