I love exploring and photographing old cemeteries in Maine. I am especially familiar with Androscoggin, Cumberland, Hancock, and York counties. I am a Greater Portland History docent, photographer for Greater Portland Landmarks, and a member of SpiritsAlive.com, the overseers of Eastern Cemetery in Portland, Maine|

Thanks for the other 2 requests. The snow is off the cemetery so we may stop by tomorrow on our way out of town.

Thank you for the pictures of my Great-Great Grandfather's headstone!

If you have other requests for this cemetery, please know that I will be back out there as soon as it warms up a little. My camera and fingers stopped working after just 30 minutes. I misjudged the wind chill. :-)

Hello, Ben, and thank you so much for posting a picture of this gravestone!!! Anna Johnson was my great-grandfather's oldest sister, and for so long, we knew almost nothing about her. It's really something to see her gravestone! We certainly didn't realize she was buried with her daughter and husband. You're really nice to take the time to take photos and post them on memorials.

Ben, Thank you for the updated photo of Nehemiah & Abigail (Emerton) Grindle's headstones. It's very beautiful with all of the fall leaves on the ground. I especially enjoyed being able to see more of the general area of their burial site since I have not had the chance to see it in person yet. These are my 3rd great grandparents. Kind Regards, Taffy
|Tim & Grace||McManus Family in Forest City Cemetery|
Thanks again for taking the gravestone photos of the McManus Family in Forest City Cemetery in South Portland back in September.
I found the patriarch of the family, John McManus, buried in Litchfield Plains Cemetery and added his gravestone photo this past weekend.
His wife, Catherine Madden, died of consumption in 1881 and was buried in Forest City Cemetery. The Cemetery Office does not have a record of her.
Your photos show the McManus monument with 4 footstones in front and 4 footstones in back. MCemetery records state that they are buried on the Robertson lot. Does it say ROBERTSON on the back of the monument and on the other 4 footstones?
Any sign of a gravestone for Catherine (Madden) McManus nearby???
Sincerely, Tim Cooper
