I became interested in celebrity graves in 1984, |
when my (then) girlfriend was fascinated with
Marilyn Monroe. I took her to Marilyn's crypt at
Westwood Memorial Cemetary, and I was fascinated
to find so many other celebrities buried there.
This started in me a hobby of "collecting"
celebrity graves, way before it was an "in" or
trendy thing to do. I had "collected" about 255
of them before I retired from this hobby, after
it became mainstream and "crowded". I actually
decided to stop after I was taking my parents
out with me to Hollywood Forever (then Hollywood Memorial Cemetary) -they wanted to try to understand the attraction), and while we were at Virginia Rappe's grave, a tour group came through. That did it for me. Before I gave it up, I did attend Ricky Nelson's funeral, and I also once run into the "Lady in Black" at Valentino's grave, and I had a chance to date a security guard at Westwood Memorial (though I never did). I never got into the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Glendale, to get to W.C. Fields or any of the other several legends that are buried therein. I'd love to get in there to see them, and also to help Sydney Greenstreet and other celeb's get out of their "utility columbarium" and into a fitting niche.

I noticed that you had taken several pictures at Verdugo Hills Cemetery. I am trying to locate my uncle's grave in that cemetery. His name is Isaac Milton Roberts. He also went by Ikey or I.M. Roberts. He was born 15 Jul 1919 and died 17 Apr 1967. He was one of 5 brothers that served in World War II. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Scott. I am wondering if my uncle, Smith S Provin, #21197219, has a headstone or any type of marker. We tried to visit the cemetery this past week but were unable to gain access. Any info you can pass along is greatly appreciated. Thanks much,

I left you a message regarding additional information for this, my relative (Find A Grave Memorial# 21197329). I was wondering if I might use the photo of him and his wife that you added to this site for my tree on Ancestry.com?
Also, I've read that there was a nearly-page-long obituary that the Los Angeles Times published when he died. Would you know how a person might see this?

I have been trying to locate my mother Waneta M. Morgan who passed away in 1972. I was only two at the time she passed & I think this is her who is burried in Verdugo cemetary. My father would of been the only one who knew her information, but he died when I was seven. I really would like to see if she is in fact burried there and if she has a proper burrial so that I can at least get her a head stone or something. Please help me if you can. Not sure if she was one of the bodies that had washed up but I really need to know if I can locate her.
Not sure if you can help, please email me and let me know either way.
Thanks so much for your time.

Do you know if anyone is taking pictures of headstones at Verdugo Hills. My fathers cousin, Clarence Roberts is buried there.

Scott, I have asked you before to please remove your listing of my mother, it is a duplicate. She has been listed there forever. I do not want people to find your listing instead of mine.

Do you know why "John Ballintina's" head stone (marker) is set in a vacant field further up Parsons Trail approx 1/8 mile from th old cemetery? Was his, one of the bodies washed away during the flooding rains of 1979? RB
