Thank you very much for this transfer of my paternal grandmother - just in time for our visit next week to her grave at Spring Hill. You are very kind. Sincerely, Jack Lanius Graves

Hi: I added photo tonight from Overfield, but the dates are off a tad. Not sure if this plaque was printed incorrectly?? I didn't want to submit an edit because felt you should make that call.

Hi Barb Myers,
Thank you for the post for the Jayne people. My maternal 2nd great grandmother was a Jayne and she married George Stults (Stultz).

Ruia Mottt Hortman
Just received a message from Find A Grave stating there is already another memorial set up in the name of Ruia HARTMAN. Ruia Hortman's husband was Herman Hortman a child of John and Elizabeth Jane Armstrong Hortman. The Hortmans were cousins of mine, and their name was always spelled Hortman. The census recrods as well as death certificates have their name spelled as HORTMAN. Somtimes in the past some children in certain families changed the spelling of their last name for various reasons (my great grandmother Hawke for one), but in this case the 1860 and 1870 census records have it spelled HORTMAN. Unfortunately the 1880 census has it as Hartman, but this is not correct. I find nothing to show Ruia's husband ever changed the spelling of his last name. Herman's brother Christopher's tombstone in Greenwood Cemetery in South Dakota reads HORTMAN, and their brother John's death certificate has his name as John Hortman. I will gladly use your memorial and delete mine, but could you change the spelling to its correct form? Also, could you give me your memorial number for Ruia Hortman?
Thank you.
