Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised and worked in northern Virginia. I'm a 66 year old Federal Government retiree with 43 years of service. Almost ten years after its inception, I found this site quite by accident when a co-worker asked me to help him at lunch time take a photograph of a headstone that was overgrown with bushes. After that, I was hooked fulfilling photo requests, primarily at nearby Arlington National Cemetery.

Then it occurred to me that this would be a great place (free (thus far)) to document my family tree for all to see, which would be based on the extensive genealogical research that my aunt has been doing for the past 15 to 20 years. This project of linking thousands of memorials is going to take a very long time (if it's at all possible) to complete due to several memorial creators, totally unrelated to my family, who will neither transfer ownership nor respond to SAC edits. That is not to say that all memorial creators are like that. Indeed, most are very gracious and totally responsive, and for that, I whole-heartedly thank them.

If I have a memorial for one of your relatives or even someone else whose memorial you're willing to maintain, I'll gladly transfer ownership upon request. Please make your transfer request via the edit tab on the memorial page, and then SAC. I don't understand the reasoning behind many members wanting to hold on to memorials of folks they have no relation to, genetic or otherwise, when there are people willing to maintain them. Findagrave's guidelines are just that, guidelines. The logic behind the beyond-the-two-generation and non-direct-line transfer request guideline from multiple members is specious at best; those requesters would be related and should be able to work out maintenance issues better than the unrelated memorial creator.

Regarding duplicate memorials, it's never my intention to create a duplicate on purpose. If you come across a duplicate I that have made, please submit an SAC on the Edit tab of the memorial page and let me know, and provide the number of the original memorial. Thank you.

You have my permission to use any of my photos, as long as you include attribution. (Please don't ask, just use them.)

Robert Charles Deshler
Hi, This message was sent to me. Thought you might be able to help with this concern.
Thanks, Bill

Robert Charles Deshler
Findagrave memorial #76570575 - would it be possible to notify someone to fix the tombstone for Robert? Near the bottom of the stone, they spelled "Soldiers", "Soliders". It's a small thing but important to at least get the spelling on a veterans stone correct. Robert is not my ancestor, but I would try to take care of it if he were. My father is in a Ft Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, and I am thankful his stone is correct! Thanks!

McInturff Cemetery # 3
Hi Cous
I see that you have two Julia McInturff in this cemetery; # 19735803 and # 84477910 they are the same person. Coffee was not a maiden name, for Aunt Jula never married, had several children but never married. I known this for a fact, for the cemetery is on the home place, Dad (Willard) own the land where the cemetery is and Uncle Everette alway kept the cemetery up, all gone now and we miss them. It's still and alway will be the home place, but now a grandson own it (Ricky Arrowood), his brother (Randy)is now owner of the second house Dad built and is living there. I myself would have like to had ownership and maintend to this cemetery, but I am getting up in aged, and my cemeteries work is about done for, I did get credit for it in the Book "Cemeteries of Unicoi County, Tennessee", that made me happy. Keep up the good work, so all our history and the old timer can be remember. Thank's Barbara Ann McInturff Dowden

Hi Couisins,
Sorry I didn't reply in Nov, I had pneumonia and I am not really over it let, but at my aged it hard to get over anything, I seam to be getting colds on top of colds. Apparently I have hit the wrong key and didn't catch it. I check marker again, but it don't look like a 9 to me, more like 15, I have 15 on my tree now. Also are you aware that this cemetery was once known as United Church of Christ Cemetery. Let me known what you think, keep up the good work. Thanks your cous. Barb

Transferring Jean Engler
Thanks for transferring. This may sound strange, but having him included in my family group somehow makes him and my father "together" again. Also, I was born in Baltimore, raised in Maryland, but have never even been to Arlington National Cemetery (shame on me). Having Jean in my group gives me added incentive to visit Arlington, see the amazing area and pay tribute to our fallen hero Americans.

Thanks again for all the work you do,
Gail

Thanks for adding Jean Evan Engler!
Thank you so much for adding Lt.Gen. Jean Evans Engler to Find A Grave! I am very curious about where you found this information. I have been doing family research for many years. I've done well on my mother's side (Dennis),going back to the 2000's BC However I ran into a big road block in attempting to research my father's family (Evans). It appears that most crucial information was destroyed in the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904, so my research on the Evans' basically ended there. My father, Edmund, spoke often of his cousin (my 1st cousin, 1xremoved) and now I actually know what he looked like, as others have added information to your posting. I also enjoyed reading your profile. I too volunteered as a contributor for FindAGrave but have not been active lately, and certainly not as active as you! Thanks for all you do to help folks find lost family and friends!

Need headstone photos
Hi David, I have two Vietnam veterans that I need headstone photos on. Colleen Brooks is buried in Section 55, Grave 5057. The other one, I can't find on the Arlingtion explorer site. Judie Ann Armington passed July 12, 2015 so she should be listed. I have another one, COL Peggy Ready that passed November 12, 2015 but hasn't been scheduled for burial yet. Thanks you so much for all you have done for me. Check out our book on Amazon.com, "Women Vietnam Veterans: Our Untold Stories".
