|Michelle Reynolds||About Fannie Browning Salmons|
I heard she was buried at Harvey's Creek, with only stones for a marker. She was my 2nd great grandma, would love any info any one could give me on her. Thank you in advance. P.S. Not sure of birth, would have passed before 1940's-pretty sure.
|Mary Jane Vandale Wood||Harry Smith|
I have a picture, black and white, of a man taken on the porch of my great aunt and uncle, Arta Morris Toney and Jesse Lee Toney in Bloomingrose, Boone County WV. On the back of the picture is written Harry Smith.
When I visited Mechanics and Miners Cemetery, as I do every year, i found a grave stone for a Harry Smith. I am not sure it is the same man. If any family members would like the picture to identify, I will be glad to give it to them.
|Russell E Bennett Jr||RE: Glen Ferris Cemetery|
I had long assumed the cemetery was on the cliffs across from the Inn. I had also read once that the cemetery was inaccessible. Neither is true. No one has been buried there in many years so its no wonder that those at the Inn didn't know anything about it. There is a map associated with the cemetery page. The cemetery is on the hill very near the point where the four lane ends as you travel west on US 60 from Gauley Bridge. I visited the cemetery in February when the vegetation is dead. It would most likely be rough going in the growing season.

I am not sure of your question. I personally visited this cemetery. I knew that it was in Glen Ferris and made several inquiries of the locals to pin it down. Walked right to it.

Silas actually had another wife following the death of Mary Pauline (Lena) Wyatt who died in 1904. In 1905 he married Birdie Barrett in Kanawha. She was the daughter of James H Barrett (1859-1925) and Martha Malisia Smart (1862-1934). These are the people I'm related to.
In 1910 Silas V Morris, Birdie Morris and their daughter Kathleen Morris, aged 2, can be seen living with James H and Martha Barrett on Charleston Street in Charleston, Kanawha, West Virginia.
By 1912 Silas Morris had married Oma Allen. Birdie Barrett Morris continued to call herself a widow and lived with family members on 318 Fayette, Charleston. She disappears from my records in 1936.
Her daughter Kathleen marries Lawrence Wesley Walker in 1927. She shows up in directories with him until 1932 and afterwards I haven't been able to trace her. Lawrence Walker remarries in 1936.
