**** NEWS ALERT****
I have Many Relatives, Close and Distant Whose graves were NOT marked due to no funds (1600's- present )or so long ago that the stones have deteriorated into the earth

Family Traditions and Family Bibles and Death Records Let many of us know where they rest. So just because there is no stone does that mean they Shouldn't be included in family lines?

Come on people a true Genealogist digs to find the lines...and doesn't jump over those very important limbs of many trees just because there is no marker to prove that they lay X <-- here.

Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.

I have been an avid cemetery hunter for at least 35+ years, My Mom had us (her children) off gallivanting cemeteries when she started researching my fathers Sutphin clan in the 70's

While growing up many a weekend was spent looking for long lost graveyards and feeling the excitement of finding the final resting place of our relatives..
All of her children when traveling still go through the local phone books for any Sutphin

What Mom instilled into us is a gift in my remember and honor those before us and never forget where we came from.

Thank you Mom for being my inspiration and my hero, Without your Love, Support, knowledge and patience of my endless supply of question and your roomfull of notebooks and your years of listening to the family histories told to you by so many this Crazy journey would not be possible.

My Lines of research are are Sutphin, Gilmore, Glick, Goads, Nesters, McPeak and all related families in my Beautiful part of Southwest Virginia

My husbands family lines are Armentrout, Argenbright, Blackwell Burns, McGown and Tylers of Rockbridge County Va. and surrounding counties

I happily accept any help ,corrections, new Friends and family members.

We are all on the same quest of finding our forefathers and our kin :)

A lot of the pictures I have posted are newer graves,when I cemetery hunt, I take pictures of all the stones and resting places new and old, that time or weather will allow I never wish to upset any of the families..I simply am trying to save some steps for future genealogist and maybe allow a family member far away to see a picture of their kins final resting place.

Many of the stones I attempt to photo document need a little enhancement to read the names and dates..due to the controversy of shaving creams,chalk and other sources..I use Herbal Choice, an all natural shave cream.

Special thanks to my Find A Grave mates Rita McKale, Ron Stewart, Victoria True, Denise Horton , Rich Kreiss for Your help being a sounding board when I'm frustrated and when I am stuck in a "That can't be right" moments.

A Thank You for his help and patience goes to my Friend Michael Nestor as I attempt to figure out the Goads and Nesters that touch so many of the family lines in My part of Southwest Va.

Thanks goes to my partner in Crime ,My Snake & spider killer ,Bee and Black Bear chaser offer.
My Hubby :)

unbelievable kindness
Hello Donna,
You are the best!!!
Thank you so much for your unbelievable kindness in deleting, in favor of mine, the following memorials:
Eleanor Martin "Ellen" Bartlett Patton
& her son;
John Mumford Patton
& his wife;
Donie Grace Wyatt Patton
Mahala Belle "Mae" Felts Patton
& her husband;
Elbert William "Billy" Patton

The very fact that you did it rather than being asked speaks volumes.

I hope you like what I have added thus far. Should I find any new information I will be adding it to what I consider OUR shared memorials.
With great appreciation,
# 47059326

Thanks for the Agee edits. I think we got it squared away.

On another note I was wondering whether you got my note about correcting the burial place for Mamie (Midkiff) McPeak Smith (#56989351) to the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery.

I came across Mamie's burial site at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery where she is buried with her 2nd husband Charlie Smith. When I pulled her death certificate, I saw that it too has her at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cem, not Laurel Fork Primitive Baptist where her first husband is buried. Thanks.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, and hope you're feeling better soon. Please let me know if I can be of any help.
I have some additional information on B.F. Mabry (Benjamin Franklin)you may want to add to his memorial when you have time. This is from New River notes on the Mabry Cememtery in Carroll County: "[MABRY, Benjamin Franklin] [31 Mar 1876] [31 Jan 1932] The head stone has deteriorated and only a foot marker is legible now; s/o John Anderson Mabry & Martha Cora Burnett"
Benjamin is buried next to his father and mother. He was born on 31 MAR 1876 in Carroll County and died in Welch, McDowell County, West Virginia on 31 JAN 1932.

Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor b.19, Aug 1853
Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor b.19 Aug 1853 this time I am going to retract and conceded to the professional genealogist Tristan Tolman who has reviewed Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright's (b.19 Aug 1853) two birth returns #30416 & #2046913. Tristan feels that there is a transcription error in transcribing the data from one record to another. I tend to agree as it is a plausible explanation for listing MWD Argenbright with two birth mothers Jane Sensabaugh and Susan Catharine Argenbright. Long story short: I agree with Tristan that Susan Catharine Argenbright & MWD Argenbright were the birth parents of Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright b.1853. I do feel this should clear up the confusion re: MWD & Jane Sensabaugh's relationship involving a marriage. This I feel is all related to the transcription error involving the two birth registers and their erroneous errors associated therein. A David Sensabaugh & his wife Jane Sensabaugh were the birth parents of their daughter Hesterline b. Nov 1853. Here David's occupation was reported as a Farmer and Hesterline was born in Walker's Creek. The informant was Mrs. Sensabaugh and her relationship to the child Hesterline was Grand Mother. MWD Argenbright was a Tinner & Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright was born in Newport, Augusta Co, VA. Happy Holidays...Nancy Shelton-Licini 12/25/2015.

Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor b.19 Aug 1853
Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor b.19, Aug 1853
Donna...I have reviewed the two birth registers for Sarah b. Aug 19, 1853. The first birth register filmed 1953 #30416 is from the Augusta County Courthouse, Staunton, VA. The register states MWD Argenbright & Jane Sensabaugh are the birth parents of Sarah b.1853 as reported by M__ Sensabaugh (informant & relationship) Grand Mother. The second birth register filmed 1996 #2046913 is from Richmond, VA stored at the VA State Library & Archives. The register states MWD Argenbright & Susan Catharine Argenbright are the birth parents of Sarah b.1853. Summary: Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor b.19 Aug 1853 has two birth registers with MWD Argenbright listed as the birth father on both registers & Jane Sensabaugh as the birth mother on #30416, and Susan Catharine Argenbright is listed on #2046913 as the birth mother. Hope this helps to clarify the body of knowledge re: the MWD Argenbright Memorial & Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Argenbright-Gaylor Memorial. Nancy Shelton-Licini
