RE: Warren Caywood
You might be right. There might be 2 Warren's and I may have them mixed up.

I'll have to do some more research.

Thanks for letting me know.

hello
I was pleased today to find you had a memorial for Juliana Watts. She was the aunt of my great great grandma, and they lived together in the last years of Julia's life. Might you be related, and able to tell me a bit about her?

RE: Grave Marker
Hi, Odette. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. My husband had surgery on the 10th of April, and it's been a flurry of physical therapy appointments and running our business since. However - I'm happy to hold onto the stone until someone can get it to the cemetery where it belongs. Question for you: I spoke with a friend who's an historian the other day, and he mentioned that sometimes gravestones that had a misspelling would be pitched into the scrap pile. Is it possible this is a scrap headstone? as I mentioned before, the name is spelled AMUS, not AMMUS, as it is on the new gravemarker on the grave in Osceola. Yes.... I'm still trying to figure out how it ended up where it did... :)

Anyway, as I said, I'm happy to hold onto the grave stone until someone can pick it up. And if no one can make it to Sioux Falls to pick it up. I'm also happy to deliver the stone to them, too, next time I have time for a Sunday drive. Just let me know what you'd like me to do, and I'll take it from there!

Best regards, Tove

RE: Grave Marker
Hi, Odette. Wondering if you've been able to reach family or the grave yard about the tombstone we found. I'd really like to get it returned to its proper place, if that's possible.

RE: Charles L Wilson
Yes her mother's maiden name was Leukert and one of her brothers was named Samuel. Now I will have to find out if they moved closer to be near Annie or vice versa. I know my Dad really missed his granddad when he moved from California to Idaho. Annie was born in Minnesota and her father was Able Leppert.

RE: Charles L Wilson
Back in November you wrote about Annie Wilson buried in Pinegrove Cemetery Rathdrum Idaho and was interested in her maiden name. I have found her in the death index in Idaho and it says her maiden name is Leppert. She was my great grandfathers 2nd wife.

Grave Marker
Hello, Odette. This is going to be a strange message, but I picked up a load of rock from one of the spots in Sioux Falls, SD where they're taking out old railroad track, and to my enormous surprise, when I got home, I found an old (VERY old) grave marker amongst the limestone rocks I picked up. It took a little doing to track down the information, but I believe the marker belongs to a member of your distant family. THe grave marker reads "AMMUS son of R. and M. KLATT, born May 31, 1896, Died August 3, 1903. It's a tall, slender obelisk-style stone, very typical of the grave markers used for children, so I am fairly confident in saying that it's the original marker for Amus' grave.

I don't know how or why the stone ended up in a pile of railroad rubble, but I would really like to connect with someone from your family, or at least with the cemetery that holds Ammus' grave, so I can return the stone to them. I suppose I should offer some explanation for why I'm tracking you down, and why I feel so compelled to find a way to get the stone back to its proper resting place. I'm of German-Russian descent, and visited Ukraine about 5 years ago, looking for the graves of my ancestors there. imagine my dismay when I learned that the headstones of all Germans were torn from their grave sites, and used as building blocks after the Bolshevik revolution. There was no trace of the cemetaries at all... in fact, we thought we were in the wrong location, until one of those I was traveling with found a single headstone, being used to prop up a fence line in someone's pasture. So sad. Anyway - if you can help me to reach out to relatives in this area, I'm happy to help get hte stone back to its proper place!

Best regards

Tove
