I've spent a lot of time in cemeteries over the years, hope to get lots of my stuff loaded and looking forward to being able to fulfill photo requests for others. |
Unless the memorial I created is for a family member I am more than happy to do a transfer, just ask.
"Show me the manner in which a nation cares for its dead, and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender mercies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals." ~William Gladstone
Please follow Find A Grave policy when capturing images to post here, whether on my memorials or others. You can read the FAQ's to learn all about it but it boils down to this….
If you did not purchase the monument it is not yours….Do Not Touch It…… Do not put chalk, flour, shaving cream, or any other concoction you can think of on it.
These substances do irreparable harm, especially to the precious old ones.

Husbands ordered by marriage and link to Alex Drost added. Are you related by chance? She is my great grandma.

Re: Third Street Cemetery, Dubuque, IA.
Believe Mrs. Burke noted in you research as death Jul. 7, 1873 could be our GG Grandmother. Your info re: Obit fits as does the notation re: McGregor, IA (my Grandmother residence). Interested where the info. came from for your entry - can you point me to the source(s). Thanks #332961458

|Robin Henry||chalked photos|
Thank you for adding the comment about not touching markers when taking photos. Years ago I requested a photo for a family member and was overjoyed when I got the SUCCESS! email only to have that joy turn to despair when I saw this very fragile old marker chalked up with blue chalk to make it readable. It was readable enough without it. Had quite a "conversation" with the photographer, who does this because she takes hundreds of photos a day and said this made it easier to read in the photo later. She creates memorials from the photos for those that have not been entered on the site and manages thousands of memorials created this way.
She said she uses sidewalk chalk and then removes it with sticky tape afterwards. This she said was less time intensive than talking a notebook along to record what she saw, she added some could not have been read any other way. It truly breaks my heart to see anyone doing this, however well intentioned they may be. Thank you again.
|History Seeker||Bielen grave sites|
I want to thank you so much for taking the time to search for Conrad, Dorothy and Eva Bielen's gravesites and for photographing this area for me. It is always so sad to learn that some is buried without a headstone, but this information is very helpful in my genealogical research.
Thank you so much again!
thank you for memorial photo for Laura Mckune
