Bio Photo WINTER 2016 MESSAGE:
We recently moved to Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:

◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.

◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.

◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.

Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.

If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?

On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.

I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Catherine Kessler Memorial 31522031
Are you related to Catherine or her husband Philip Kessler?

In research I have located her maiden name to be Kindt on death certificates for their children.

I was wondering how her parents have the last name of Kessler.

I have Kesslers in my family and that is how I ran into this information. My mother was a Kesler with 1 s her great grandfather changed the name from Kessler to Kesler. I am still trying to find out if Philip Kessler is one of my ancestors. I have found one of their children, Elizabeth, and I think she is one of my ancestors. Because the census do not list families before 1850 sometimes it is hard to put families together.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Linnea (Beidelman) Perris

Mount Royal Cemetery Photo Request
Mount Royal Cemetery has 165 acres. The burial plot location must be supplied so a volunteer can go take the photo.

You can get this free information by filling the form here: and in the "Desired Service" field, select "Burial Location (free)" and enter the information.

If the Genealogy page was not helpful then email your request to

The cemetery will email you the location (3-10 working days).

Have the memorial updated with the plot number.

You will have made it possible for the photo to be taken.

Hello! Sure! Is there one you prefer over the other? The pictures are *slightly* different so I'm not sure if you prefer one.
