Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love the peace and quiet of cemeteries. (There are no telemarketers calling.) I also love taking pictures. The exercise is at my own pace. The stones are interesting, and they absolutely need to be documented before they are lost to the ravages of time.

I'm 10 generations forward from my Mayflower ancestor George Soule. I'm 13 generations from my New Haven founder Capt. Nathaniel Turner. 13 Generations is 1024 direct ancestors (doesn't count siblings etc.) My husband also has 1024 direct ancestors going back to the Mayflower. That's 2048 direct ancestors. I haven't found them all in the 40+ years I've been researching. But I'm still looking. Thanks to all of you members at Find a Grave, who are making finding their burial places easier.

PLEASE use the EDIT tab for suggestions, corrections and transfers. I'm happy to make changes, but I'm going to ask you for a source, if it's not directly on the stone. (Using the new edit system you can send source information through the "Suggest any other correction or addition" line.) The internet is a wonderful thing for genealogists but it's also very good at spreading misinformation, and I am trying very hard not to spread undocumented genealogy. That's one of the reasons I love Find a Grave, because I can look directly at a gravestone and see exactly what it says and don't have to depend on second and third hand information. Happy hunting.

PHOTOS OF GRAVESTONES. Please feel free to use mine, that's why I took them. I do like to get credit, though. "ASB"

PHOTOS OF PEOPLE. I've posted them to be enjoyed by visitors to Find a Grave. I was a little taken aback to see my mother's photo on Ancestry. So you're welcome to use them, for your personal use, but I would appreciate it, if you would avoid posting them to other internet sites.

Oscar Tourtellotte
Can you find out if Oscar's wife Gladys Mary
Tourtellotte 1907-1997 is buried with him?
His memorial # is 96895074. Is there a grave stone
with his name on it to add to his memorial, and her if she is buried there also. Can you do a memorial for her if in that plot?
Thank you, Carolyn 47697510

RE: Spencertown Cemetery
ASB, I am sorry for your trouble. I did not post the memorial, but only requested photos. Upon getting your information I searched Tioga County Joyce Tice Site, and it confirms that they are at "Spencer Family Cemetery, Union Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania", which Find A Grave lists as only "Spencer Cemetery". I looked in that Cemetery and it seems their stones are listed there - and low and behold, you are the one that posted them! OMG! I will contact Find A Grave to let them know of the incorrect Duplicates at the other cemetery. I hope I can trouble you if I need any more stones that are not posted. I will do a thorough look on Joyce site first though. Thank you again, Allison in NC.

Spencertown Cemetery
I have two requests for Spencers's at this cemetery? Would you be able to take them next time you are there? Thank you very much, Allison in North Carolina.

Given that there are numerous Unknown's in the cemetery they may even be buried there with a stone. But there are other alternatives. For example, according to th John Rockwell Genealogy they lived in Ridgefield and there are numerous cemeteries in Ridgefield.

It turns out that in 2007 a "Registry of Graves" was created as an Eagle Scout project. The church posted it here ==>

There are a few Rockwells known to be buried here apart from Nathan, but no Sarahs.

I have a meeting scheduled on 7/25 with the Town Historian to address your, as well as a number of related, questions. I'll let you know what I find out.

Im following a huntch on the Wood Gates family. Evelyn is a direct decendant of this couple and id need to know her dob to see if my thoughts mesh. Do you have easy access to her stone to see the exact month of her birth? I do appreciate all your hard work, its quite a feat to catalog so mane stones.
