Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am honored to walk these hallowed grounds to help families track down physical proof of their ancestors' existence.

Although this website asks for photos of only the gravestones, I am a photographer who finds value in the surrounding area as well for added visual interest. I use my best judgement and have the greatest respect when volunteering at any cemetery. Please visit memorial pages 3518495, 346395 and 46809143 as examples.

My dad and mom
Thank you so much for doing what you do here. I was very happy to find my parents listed. I have been to the cemetery to visit, but it quite a distance to Fort Snelling and it is so nice to reach the sight here whenever I am in the mood. Thanks, Jessie

George Burger
Okay, I'm going to post a couple of links. Maybe they will help.

The first is basically an online copy of what I can access at the County Courthouse, listing Civil War vets. The one thing you need to take note of is that it was pretty common for 16-17 yr old boys to fudge their ages to 18, so they could enlist.

This second link is an online edition of Dunham's History of Jerauld County. (Published in 1910.) You can download it, or choose to read it online. I uploaded it to my Kindle. :) The fun thing about it is you can search for a specific name, ie Burger. There is some info about what his occupation was and so forth. Just a bit interesting!

Hope these help!

George Burger
In response to your photo request for George Burger. this is the only marker in Prospect Hill. I didn't create the memorial, but all the information I have is vague on his birth date. It varies from 1844 to 1846. The military records state that he was born in 1845, for instance, as does the 1910 census.

There are only 2 plot records on file for George Burger, adjoining, one for his wife Eliza, and one for him. There are no other Burgers buried in Prospect Hill other than these two.

There's a mistake somewhere, but the photograph is what it is. Just one of the quirks of cemeteries and older markers.

I'll keep checking, hopefully I can find an obit, but since I've photographed the entire cemetery, I'm for certain my photo is correct. Please let me know if you need anything else!
