I need some cemtery help
Louise, I was wondering if you could help me, I need the exact location of the Norwegian cemetery in Port Washington, Wi. I am volunteering for the Ozaukee county Historical society and I am in the process of taking pictures of all the cemeteries in the county.
Thanks for any help you can give me

RE: Julius Merz
Hi Louise,

All the info I have on Julius is showing on the Findagrave page. I have a friend that moved to the Philippines, and he sent me the photos so that I could get these military members, buried there, included and remembered. I did the minor research, enough to verify who the person was, but didn't delve that far beyond that.

I've been driving big rigs across the country every day since last November, so I'm sorry it took so long to respond, but I just don't get home much.

RE: Charles H Turner 1920-83
I checked the Turner marker in Palm Cemetery in Winter Park and the name on the right is "Barbara A." and only her birth date of March 21, 1923 is given. These must not be your parties.

A team of Long Beach Public Library volunteers went through the old Long Beach newspapers pretty thoroughly looking for obituaries. However, many early newspapers were missing, so that may be why there is no obit. We were fortunate enough to have in our collection the records from Mottell's Mortuary which we also indexed and are including in Find-a-Grave.

I see that you have a photo request for George Heintz in the Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, IL. It would be very helpful if you could call the Irving Park Cemetery office at (773) 625-3500 and see if the will supply you with the Section Name and Block Number for her. There are many requests that I will try to fulfill but I can't walk in there with a list of people or they won't look them up. Explain that you live out of state and that you have a genealogist coming in the photograph the headstone of your family member. Hopefully they will supply you with the information. The cemetery is very large and will take a long time to find it just walking around.

If you could do this for each request that you have for this cemetery, it would help.

Let me know if they give you the info and what it is. I will then go and fulfill your photo request.

Thank you.

I found Bernard's stone and also his wife, Paulina. Let me know and I can transfer ownership to you. I also photographed and added two more stones that were curiously in-between Bernard and Paulina. They were stones for a Friedrich and Wilhelmine Mintzlaff. I don't know if they're related, but it just seemed odd that they were in-between.

Well Louise, that cemetery isn't looking all that schnazzy right now. There were a few inches of mud/grass over parts of many of the stones (to be expected over the years, true) and unfortunately I didn't have all the right equipment to remove enough for good pics of them all. But that's a distant second to the fact that there was a tree that fell over the already-rotting fence, and another dead one also near the fence that was ominously creaking in the wind...I was pretty nervous photographing the grave next to it. Other than that it's just a bunch of dead branches there & about. I wonder what condition it was in when you last visited it.
