I'm 33 years old and that's something since I never thought I would live to be 16. Not simply that but I'm a mom of 2 and it was never believed I would be able to have kids. I've had dysgerminoma twice (stage IV second time around but no radiation or my two reasons for living wouldn't be here). I have had ductal carcinoma in situ as well. Because of my 25 operations I am missing my breasts, one ovary, uterus, thyroid gland, one kidney, and more. I have something called Cowden Syndrome. It's too complicated to explain here but it means my health is down a whole lot. Unfortunately my two kids also have it.|
I love family history. I don't know if it came from my grandpas dying 3 weeks apart while mom was pregnant with me, from stories I heard and loved as a child, or from where but it's always been there. The only thing that kept my attention as a kid was pictures. Few 3 year olds are that fascinated but my daughter is 5 and seems to be.
I've been a member of Find-A-Grave for a while but decided to take volunteer photos only recently. I'm at the mercy of when I have gas money to travel to some of the out of the way cemeteries but go when I can. It's also more difficult because we are losing my mom to stage IV colon cancer and I want to spend time with her.
Due to all the medical problems, I freelance write when I can. This helps me afford Sunday school supplies for my class and is helping in my Find-A-Grave gas fund. The link to my profile is http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/659001/andrea_rowe.html I am paid $1.50 per 1,000 clicks and it costs nothing to click on my articles and read them--unless you count time and effort. I'm certainly not the world's best author but it keeps my brain active.
My Randolph County names (all through dad): Haulcroft (grandma), Thompson (grandpa), Spencer, Weatherford, McCandless, Segraves, McDaniel/McDonald, Carroll, Waddell, Lacy, and gosh likely more. Dad has had family in this area for two hundred years. My mom's family did not move to the area until the 1960's Boozer, Kennedy, Cheney, English, Williams and her names are more common in Lee County, AR
My husband's Randolph County names (all through his mom) Hurn, Difani, Weisenbach, Neef, many of the German Catholic immigrants, Johnson. My husband's father Rowe, Gates, Temples, Weaver, and probably more.

Hi! I just happened to be going through all my messages on find a grave and by chance clicked on your profile. It brought me to tears...(and this is hard for ANY man to admit...lol). I am in the medical field myself in Michigan. You have a very inspiring story and sound like a determined, positive young woman who, despite all the devastating health struggles, would think to make herself available to others for help on find a grave. Awesome....simply awesome. I don't have the depth of words to say how much you have inspired me and shaken me out of the occasional depression I sometimes suffer through on a weekly basis. I hope everything is well with you and your children...I say this most sincerely and from the bottom of my heart...you are an inspiration me and to others and I hope the almighty will keep you and yours forever close to heart and may you go on inspiring others with your humble courage and positivity. I thank you for touching my life...

That's from your message to me. Go down my messages until you see yours to me and you'll find it dated around the first of August.
How is mom?

:) Good morning! Sounds like you got it figured out. Yes, just take your time, and if I can help, just let me know.
|Shirley Goingღ||Thank You|
Thank you for the Lewis and Anna Lawhon picture. Can you look at the original picture and tell me the date of Lewis' death? I have Oct 1967 but no date and I can't make it out on your picture. If you can't either don't worry about it. He's the husband of my kin Anna and I have her info. Thanks again for your hard work Andrea. You are a true trooper and I for one appreciate the "heck" out of you.

Gosh, you know more about this family than I do. I never got to know any of my family that lived in Randolph Co. I'm just now discovering who they are. If you read my bio you'll see this is my father's side of the family and I don't think he even knew all his family from up there. You've given more info on George. I didn't know his wife's name or the children. I thank you for that. That also means another photo request, hehe. How's mom? You're getting out of the house and doing something you like to do is the best medicine for you right now. Is the weather as hot up there as it is here??? 104 in the shade with heat index over 115?
|John Hartley||Thomas Pictures|
Thanks for the pictures of the Thomas graves in Thomas cemetery. I hope I can repay you some day.
