As you can see, I have been around Findagrave for just over 13 years! Seeing all of the changes that have happened over the years has been very exciting. Things we wished for way back when are now a reality. Memorials now look wonderful when they are so complete. |
I am still – and plan to always be an active member of Findagrave. If that changes I will let the admins know. I do love Findagrave and have every intention of always maintaining my contributions, but I also have a very active "real" life. Since Findagrave is a volunteer website I will work on corrections as time allows. You need only send a correction one time. If some time has passed and you think the correction request may have been lost please send a second request.
I will transfer memorials within Findagrave guidelines only.
FROM THE FAQS:
How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.
Second, Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Duplicates are frowned upon. DO NOT make duplicate memorials.
PLEASE use the Suggest A Correction tab for EACH memorial. Please do not compile an e-mail or "Suggest a Correction" request with several memorial requests. I am not able to search for each memorial. When you use the "Suggest A Correction" link it sends the link to the memorial along with the request. When requesting to add family links, please add the MEMORIAL NUMBERS and THE NAMES. Not just the names or just the numbers of the other family members. If you send just the names or just the memorial numbers the corrections will not be made. There is a high probability for error without all of the information being sent.
I will make changes and add biographical information to any of the memorials that I have added to the website. Please remember, it is "Suggest A Correction", Not "Demand A Correction". Please also remember that every correction you send does not necessarily result in actual changes to the memorial. Sending a correction asking for copied materials such as census records or obits to be added to the memorial will not result in it being added. Please do not send them. If you want that information added, please write the information in paragraph form and send that as your correction.
From the FAQ'S
Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
You should not copy obituary notices from newspapers to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so or you are the author of the obituary. Some obituaries that were published in 1922 or earlier are now in the public domain. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family with assistance from the funeral home. If the obituary is added to the memorial record, it should list the newspaper and date the obit was printed for example "Published in the Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Internet Edition, April 11, 2007". Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission. If you do not have permission to copy an obituary to a memorial, you may put a note stating the name of the newspaper and the date the obituary was published.
Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record.
Obituaries for "famous" individuals are usually written by newspaper staff and can not be posted to Find A Grave as the newspaper company owns that copyright.
Please do not include website addresses that may be listed in the obituary as they usually expire within a year after the obituary is printed.
If you need to contact me with other questions about memorials please add the topic of Findagrave in the Subject Line. If the Subject of FINDAGRAVE is not listed the email will not be opened. Please add the memorial number on all of your requests. I look forward to working with you to make each memorial as complete as possible! Thank you.

|Valerie Adams||John Benjamin "Red" Adams|
Hello, I am Valerie Adams and John Benjamin "Red" Adams is my father-in-law. I would like to request that ownership of his Find-A-Grave account be transferred to me. I need to make a change in this name. It has "Red" twice. I also would like to be able to add more children to this site. If you are unable to transfer ownership to me let me know and I will send you the additions and changes.
Thank you for your time,
I sent you a correction for her name. Just want to let you know why. Her name was Elliott Marion Clyatt Hearon. I know her headstone shows Clyott. It is a mistake. She was the daughter of my 2nd great uncle.
Her memorial number is 10385875. I know she has a son buried there, Jack. Can't seem to find her husband. He died 17yrs after her. He never remarried.
Thank you for adding this memorial to find a grave.
|William R. Ward||ARTHUR-HALE CEMETERY|
18. ARTHUR-HALE CEMETERY: 1853. 6 graves. On Bayway Drive, on Exxon property, Baytown, Texas. On land originally owned by William Scott, this cemetery has been associated with the cemetery at Point Pleasant (qv). This seems doubtful as the son, G.W. Scott, sold 251 acres to J. F. Overland in 1848 with 100 acres of the land then passing to Mrs. G. M. Mitchell in 1867, and in turn 17 acres went to James Mitchell in 1869, explaining the alternate names of Overland Bay and Mitchell Bay. The cemetery plot of 28 by 25 feet was conveyed in 1894 to Thomas and Hugh Arthur. Two rows of graves: [top] Elizabeth Hale Sept 13, 1881 – July 8, 1895; Alexander Benjamin Hale Oct 20, 1807 – Sept 12, 1885 CSA; William C. Arthur b. 1816, KY – d. 1882 CSA. [second row] Josephine Arthur [wife of Hugh] born June 1, 1876, married July 17, 1890, died April 1, 1909; Mary E. Wise April 11, 1819 – June 27, 1853; Irine Arthur [dau of Hugh] born Mar 7, 1891 died June 28, 1894. Hugh Arthur remarried and moved to Morgan's Point. Alexander Benjamin Hale's wife, Susannah Jane Guess/Guest, died ca. 1910 in Energy, Comanche County, Texas. |Becky Ramsey||RE: Findagrave Photos|
Julie, the photo I am referring to with the request is one of the marker on Thomas Jefferson Rusk memorial page # 6258942. There may be other photos from other relatives gravesites but at this time this is the only one I have discovered. I am researching Clevelands and offshoots at this time. Becky
