Some names of interest in my own family line include Lowther, Thistle, Milne, Henderson, Zirkle, Tedrow, Briix, and Blythe, my great-grandparents' names. My husband's family names include Doan, Corder, Dokken, Tangen, Goff, Allen and Peterson. Please send corrections/ updates; I want things to be accurate.|
My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.
"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote
"A Visit to the Gravesite"
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?
Walter Butler Palmer

|Velma Greer||obit for William Suppe|
Thank you for sending the obit and info for William Suppe. Oakland Cemetery seems the obvious place of burial since his family is buried there and since he died in Moberley. Please continue to send whatever you find. I am very appreciative of all your help.
|Sharon Versluis-Butcher||National Wise|
Thank you for the info on Nathaniel Wise. I have added it to the bio. I would appreciate any information you may find on that family.
|Melanie Thompson||Thank you!|
You documented the grave stone of Nancy Button McConnell, who was my Great-Great Grandfather's first wife.
We knew that she had passed away. However, we did not know the circumstances surrounding her death. The fact that she died in childbirth and lost the baby had never been shared with our family.
This information is invaluable to my family and I am grateful for your selfless service.

Ok, I will double check by going to the library and accessing the KC Star on microfilm. Then I will check funeral homes for records and check the actual cemetery itself. It's not that far from me.
|Carole Lee Alexander||Frances Doan|
Hi Becky, Just wanted to double check with you about the birth place of Frances. The 1880 Census states he was born in South Carolina as as well as his father with mother being born in Ohio. But then the 1910 Census says he was born in Ohio. Is the 1880 Census incorrect? Carole

Grave ID #66492067
There is no husband listed for Rebecca Davis (1788-1857). I see her record was added in 2011. Would you happen to have any new information about a possible husband by the name of Garrett Garrison.
Read with interest all the Goff names you have in your tree. Noticed you have a memorial for Tommy A. Goff buried in Rapid City. Don't think he fits in with any of your other Goffs. Tommy is a brother of my husband Wayne Goff. Their father, Arthur Henry Goff was married several times, including an Allen and a Peterson, but they don't seem to fit, either. Someday we may be able to connect them all.

I would like to discuss your Find A Grave posting regarding Neri.
|Olin E. Hartley||Mary E. Hoult Wells|
Hi Becky -
Sorry yo say that I haven't found her burying site either. Since her husband and wife, Nancy E. Swartz , are buried Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, it would be a guess on my part that Mary is buried there also, but am sure you you already checked that out.
Also, the last place I show Mary living was in Edgar County, Illinois,where she was married (per marriage records). I did check out the Hoult Cemetery but she is not listed there.
Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Please let me know if you find out where she was buried,
