William Newman
Do you know anything about the William and Nancy Newman buried in Girard Cemetery? His # is 14424442, he died in 1875; Nancy's # is 14424436, and she died in 1880.

Look at these. they are mother and son. She dies of Feb 22,1936. then her son dies on the RR tracks right by the house In April -- suicide?

I grew up in Buckhead, right next to Brookhaven; my brother lived in Brookhaven when he died - on a street parallel to Colonial Drive - ----

Look on the map and the rr tracks run between where I think they lived and Peachtree Street. Those tracks and the overpass are still there.

RE: Your great-grandmother
Jane Rousseau and John I thank you for the work you've done and for posting the death certificate of my great grandmother! It is another peace to the puzzle to share with my mother who never knew her grands.

I am also VERY appreciative if any information that can be had about the clean up of the Mt. Gilead cemetery as I would love to help. I have been out there a few times since finding the site but the quarry business is the only place I've found to park and every time I have gone it seems to spook them.

I would love to see if when the clean up occurs we could also speak to someone to have a small parking lot (gravel or otherwise) built so that I don't have to park on the side of the road or on their property if that is a problem. I have yet to speak with anyone there that makes decisions that can authorize my parking on their property when I visit. If you have a POC or if you could share with me where you guys park when visiting, it would be greatly appreciated.

In closing, thank you so very much for all you've done and all you do. It is a great help and through this site I have gotten further than I ever thought I would to fill in the massive blanks in my family tree. Blessings!

Troy

If you could contact the cemetery and find out, I would be more then glad to retake them. I have trouble getting them to do anything.

John,
Sorry about these photos; this cemetery was the first one I did and my camera wasn't as good as the one I have now. I really didn't do the angle's right. If I knew where they were located I'd retake them.

Happy to provide the photo. In the early '70's we lived directly behind the Lands. My husband would take our little daughter to see Mr. Ted's pet gopher tortoises and Mr. Ted would share his tomatoes. They were wonderful people. BKB

One more little note: many times the grave plots are prepaid and husbands and wives end up separated because of this. The Slaytons may have prepaid for her at Riverdale, but not for her HAMER husband. If you SEARCHED on Slayton at Riverdale, this is obviously a major burial site for them.

Most of these at Riverdale are descendants of the same Littleberry Slaton by son Thomas, who was bro to Susan V's father George "Bose" Slayton. Others of them are found in New Smyrna, Cobb Co, GA, where it is suspected that "Bose" is bur, but no confirmation with a stone so far.
Another bro Richard is bur Clowers, Harris co GA.

Regrettably, the results that were transferred to the FTDNA Project site are not appearing, because the technical service at FTDNA is virtually non-functional, please keep the link, this should be resolved soon, I hope.
