Bio and Links
Bio Photo I just started working with geneologies and walking cemeteries even though I have always been intriqued by local history. As a middle school history teacher I enjoy looking and learning about the history that names have in different places.

RE: Elizabeth Lea
Do you live around here? Do you have relatives in Union Chapel Cemetery?

Elizabeth Lea
Thanks for adding a memorial for Elizabeth Lea. Just a couple of weeks ago I was looking for her and could not find her although I was pretty sure she was buried at Chapel. I have just submitted edits to link her with her husband and her mother and have submitted edits to her children's Memorials to link them with her. She is my ggg-grandfather's (Logan Hargis) sister. Logan is the father of George Hargis who gave the land for Union Chapel Cemetery out of the SW corner of his 40 acre land patent. George was a baptist minister. Elizabeth's mother Ester (Kinser) Hargis is buried at Panther Valley Cemetery in Webster County and came here with her children in about 1846. I live in Springfield and am related to most of the people buried at Union Chapel. I have four pairs of gg-grandparents buried there as well as two pairs of g-grandparents and one ggg-grandparent.

Mattie Hughes True
Can u please tell me if there is a Margaret (Mattie) Hughes True is buried in this cemetery, the Portageville Cemetery? Her brothers John Martin Hughes, and Andrew Robert are buried there. I am trying to find her, as she is my great grandmother, and we do not know what happened to her, or where she is buried. Thank you...Larie Chandler
