Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy doing family genealogies of local North Fork Families and, as a result, I haunt graveyards on weekends. I would be pleased to share information on these families. Please do email me if you have any interest in the graves I have added.

Mary E. Thornhill Memorial 64436810
Joy,
First of all Thank you for the wonderful job you have done with the memorials of the East End families!
Mary Elizabeth Thornhill's maiden name is actually Gagen not Sagen, as listed in the 1910-1911 Southold census. According to the marriage license of her son, William Joseph Thornhill to Helen Teresa Coyne, her maiden name is Gagen. This (as well as DOB) fits with her being the daughter of Michael Gagen and Mary Donohue.

Thanks again,
Cathie Thornhill

My husbands paternal grandfather was a Thornhill and his grandmother a Gagen.

Valentine Merrill
I Found this on ancestry looks to have been taken from a book on Merrill's: VALENTINE MERRILL (Titus, Thomas, Abel, John) was born 30 Jan 1783, in West Harford, Conn., and was killed on a railroad 25 Sept. 1854. He Settled in South Norwalk, Conn., in 1824, and was a potter, in partnership with his brother Marvin. He married, in 1805, Lydia Sisson (1786-1852, dau. of Elisha and Lydia (Beebe) Sesson.

But if you take and calculate from what's on the headstone of 71 years, 8 months, 5 days it come out 20 of Jan. ????

If you take the dates on the headstone and calculate the birth date it come out 30 Jan 1783. This would be nice if it were added.

RE: Elsie Patricia Costello
Thanks for writing. Most definitely the memorial should be transferred to her children or siblings. Am not sure they're on here, but have seen the website her son made and visited many times. (She really was as amazing as depicted.) Anyway, so glad you updated her memorial and have linked her to family. It's what Find A Grave does so well, so huge thanks for your work and care in doing so. It's in very good hands with you, I think. -ajf
