Elbert J. McCall
Hi Al,

We had a CS3 Elbert J. McCall in our Navy Seabee battalion (CBMU-302) in Vietnam in the 1968-69 period and I saw a 'Sherrel McCall' listed on Findagrave's site, so clicked it and see Elbert's name on her marker! However, if he's my guy, he should have some sort of veteran's marker or notation, especially since he served in a combat zone. I know I'm asking a bunch of you, but if you're in the neighborhood of the New Hope Methodist Cemetery, can you ask them if they know if this Elbert is a Navy veteran and if he did in fact serve in Vietnam?

CAN DO!

Skinner Infant
Thank you so much for the photo of baby Hershel Skinner in the McClellan Cemetery in Wellborn. I was there in 2013 but could not locate it. I appreciate your efforts on behalf of us researchers from out of state.

FAG #40828727 - Shadrack Gibbs
Greetings, Mr. Williams -

I was in the New Hope Baptist Cemetery this last weekend and came upon a military headstone for Shadrack Gibbs CSA. There were no other Gibbs buried there that I could tell... However, I had to find something out about him. His "US Application for Military Veterans..." reads that he died March 16, 1924. Would you mind inserting that into his Find A Grave page? It might help someone find him.

Thanks for all you do!

your bio
Just saw your bio...

I had an aunt - daddy died so I do not know her name, but SHE was a sheriff of Dixie County,, FL and she was blind...... Thought that was so appropriate for you. When my daddy got out of the war (WWII) he got a job teaching at Auburn University. As he was driving through Suwannee County (abt 1953?) and was stopped by the police. He looked in Daddy's car and had him get out because he was carrying a BOMB! Daddy tried to explain, but the officer would not hear of it. Daddy finally got him to call his aunt (the blind sheriff) and she told him that yes, there really was a thing called CANNED SHAVING CREAM! Wish I knew her name for you. My families are from the Dixie, Suwannee, Hamilton, Columbia county areas.

Thank you so much for the photo and for linking Mary Ann Brown. Folks like you make this site so wonderful! If you EVER need any photos from cemeteries in the Jefferson County, AL area, just let me know. It is so amazing to see a grave of someone who is related to me from so long ago. Thanks for allowing me to do that.
