Genealogy is my passion. I have photographed many graves in the same cemeteries as my relatives and added them to findagrave.com with whatever information I could find publically to hopefully appropriately honor the memorial. I have also added many memorials from obituaries I've come across or death certificates found in public records and some cemetery listings and veterans records.|
If I have added someone from your ancestry, please ask me for transfer of memorial. I don't care how remote they are. I feel all memorials will be better honored if they belong to their family or someone who knew them or who would care more about them than I. I'll never refuse a transfer unless person is of my own family.
I welcome corrections, additions and links to family members in effort to make family history easier and honor the memorials.
I don't claim any copyrights to my photos of GRAVES and freely give you permission to copy my GRAVESTONE photos ONLY and use them for your own family tree or family purposes. I took them for you and anyone interested.
Obituaries are copyrighted, so I won't post them but use info from them.
So many people's pages are full of Don'ts and I said I wouldn't do that. You can read the rules. However, I found a need to ask one.
PLEASE PLEASE DON'T COPY my personal family photos of people without first asking my permission. After finding my personal photos of my father copied to someone's family tree without asking me, I thought I made a big mistake posting them and I almost deleted all my photos here. I couldn't do it because photos get lost over time and people forgotten. I only ask that you ask me because I don't want to find them in a tree where they don't belong as this has happened because of someone with the same name. It's also nice to know whose hands your personal photos are in. Thank You for understanding the importance to me.

Thanks Linda, but I have an obit of Alexander Chomicz that was given to me by his daughter. It has something in it that complicates his birth place. He usually claimed Poland when he was alive and the obit says Podzanance, Prov of Wilno, Poland. His church marriage record in Latin list three words Polish researchers didn't recognize followed by Wilno. I bought some old maps from a Polish research site and Wilno is shown in Poland and also Lithuania. It depends on the date of the map. As we know that area changed hands many times. LDS has Polish church records filmed but I didn't find any relevant films of Lithuania. That is where I think Wilno is now. I am not working on that right now, I will look at that later. Today I am working on his Naturalization papers and I am waiting for a reply from USCIS on a request I sent them a couple of weeks ago.
I found what I believe is his manifest arrival in 1913 but the birth place isn't clear. Looks like Podzanance misspelled. That is why I want the Naturalization Papers.
Also I phoned the Artillery museum in Fort Sill, OK and the officer there said he has a small book on the 58th in WWI and will send me a copy.
So I am doing pretty good. Thank you very much for your interest and your help.

Thank you very much for all you have done. I don't need a photo of the site, I just thought that if you had one I would be glad to have it. His daughter lives near me in NJ and goes up to MA often. I will have her look around the next time. I have the Birth and death date and he put 1897 on one draft card and 1896 on the other. He died in the VA Hospital that is near Boston. With this information I am going to have the daughter fill out the forms and she can send for the VA records. I'll look up Ancestry's record from the headstone application. That was very helpful. Yesterday I found on the internet a site that had a history of the 58th Arty in WWI and I downloaded it. Now I am going to see if I can find any records that list personal of that unit and hope to confirm his record. I was able to do that for my uncle in the 7th Regiment, engineers in WWI. His daughter will be extremely happy. She had very little info on her father's history before he married her mother.
Once again I thank you, this has been very helpful.
