Note: Information about Jacob and Mary Stauffer Varnes and some of their descendants has been taken from the following family history:
THE GENEALOGY OF THE JACOB LEIGHTY FAMILY OF FAYETTE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA by Floyd H. Leighty, Sr., Jan. 1980.
Special thanks to Julie Oliver for recording tombstone information at Bethel Christian Church near Anabel, MO, which has been used in some of the memorials.
Records of Ken O'Neal have been invaluable in creating memorials in East Liberty Presbyterian Cemetery in Vanderbilt, PA.
Elizabeth Ellsberry's Cemetery Records of Macon Co., MO, 1963, has been a great help for memorials in Macon Co., MO.
I try to follow the FAG guidelines concerning obituaries.
The question of initials in proper names has recently come up. I am trying to follow the FAG guidelines of using a period after a middle initial: "Concerning punctuation in proper names, always use normal English rules, such as always use a period after a Middle Initial."

My grandmother Annie James Tooley was buried with her first husband T. S. James in Oakwood Cemetery in Macon Mo. There is nothing on his memorial that says this. Thank you so much.

Reference to "Descendants of Michael Surber" by Damon Floyd cannot be found online. Do you have a copy that you could send to me or a link.
Do you have any information that Adam Surber (1751-1833) may have been in the Rev War?

Hi There, The sources indicated are:
I found the year of her birth 1769 and the State VA in the Family Data Collection-Births and Millenium File
Year of Death September,1851 in Macon Mo was also from the Family Data Collection- Deaths
Things possibly are not always accurate I suppose..

I'm not sure what happened to my first message, it's not appearing. So..
Jimmy was my uncle, my mother's sister's husband.
Would you like to add a short bio(below)?:
