"Genealogy without documentation is mythology".|
"If you can't prove it,Don't claim it as a fact."
And let's not forget..."Saying,Thank You,opens many unexpected doors and failing to do so just once slams those doors tight forever". !
With over 38 years as a volunteer, a Historical/ Genealogical Researcher & Contributor;
For myself,creating memorials is not a race, It's a quest to create accurate,useful,meaningful memorials for all who find them.My main objective is to photograph our local cemeteries,locate lost burials & follow up with any extra info I can find to add to many of the memorials I have had the honor to create here on FindAGrave.
To the folks who use this site & continue to share the information they find,freely with everyone,you have the never ending gratitude of 1000s of researchers who use this site.
To the other people who go thru life with a general bad attitude & who feel that they are entitled or exempt,in providing viable sources ;they need to learn to follow the site rules as posted by FindAGrave, READ THE FAQs or go someplace else,build your own website, make your own rules & be nasty all by yourselves!
In other words...
This AIN'T FACEBOOK folks !
So keep your drama & insults to yourself !
Posting "flames" against other "contributors" is regarded as grounds for removal from the site.
>>>> AS OF JANUARY 2011 <<<<
PHOTO SCANS AND FULL WORD FOR WORD TRANSCRIPTIONS OF any post 1922 era OBITUARIES are NOT ALLOWED to be added to MEMORIALS,due to Copyrights infringement & privacy issues.This includes the prohibited use of photo of individuals seen posted in online newspaper obituaries. >> EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY <<
~ I reserve the right to verify all submitted information prior to adding anything to a memorial;per the FindAGrave Guidelines.LEARN MORE read the FAQs
~ All Edits must be submitted using the Edit button & form found on each memorial.
~ ALL Edits MUST have your RETURN EMAIL ADDRESS attached & a complete source to prove the information you send to me for consideration.
* Look at providing your sources as a way of showing added credibility to your suggestions & research!
* UN-SOURCED FAMILY TREES FOUND ON ANCESTRY . COM or any other website,ARE NOT CONSIDERED SOURCES; A family tree without sources is JUST MYTHOLOGY !!
* Ancestry . com IS NOT A SOURCE...it's a REPOSITORY,like a Library has books,Ancestry has records & documents;those records ARE THE SOURCES!
~ ANY Messages posted to my message board requesting memorial transfers,Edits,link additions,snide rude comments,once reported to the Admin ...will be deleted.
Nor will I respond to any edits or corrections sent by site visitors who do not have a FindAGrave account.
* Hiding behind a pseudonym,fictitious or fake name is cute;but with no return email address,no sources & no way to contact you,this tends to create questions about the accuracy of the information you'd like to provide.
Things to Know...
FindAGrave is a Burial Registration website;
If you're using the site for genealogical purposes & would like extra info added to any of the memorials I've created;provide solid sources such as:
*Census Records-with the ED #,location & Page Number.
*Obits-Send a full scan,with publication date,newspaper name & location.I will extract the allowable info per the FindAGrave rules.
* Birth,Marriage & Death Certificates-include certificate numbers,dates,locations,Volume & Docket numbers.
* Bible Records-send a full photo scan of the records,include the name/email of the person holding such records.
* Include a return email address in case of further questions.
* Photo scans can be sent to me via my email address,noting FindAGrave & the memorial number in the Subject Line of your email.
REMEMBER- Genealogy is about sharing...if you won't or refuse to share your viable SOURCES,there are many other websites on the internet that would better suit you & your personal brand of research/sharing preferences & techniques.
~~It is against FindAGrave Policy to create Unknown Burials & to later move them into their correct cemetery locations forcing any originally placed identical memorials to be called duplicates.FAG Admin can track these Unknown Burials & action will be taken against the creator of the Unknown Burials.
~ I maintain numerous memorials for folks who are working on their family histories & who are not members of FindAGrave . Those memorials will not be transferred out of my care unless approved by those researchers & after verification of all relationship claims.
~ Ask & explain your relationship using the EDIT/SAC form found on each memorial.Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations.Depending on each case,I have made many transfers outside of the guidelines.
~ Asking for a transfer,solely on wanting to add more information to any of the memorials is against site rules.
~ Include a VALID return Email Address in the transfer request. All bouncing email addresses will be ignored.
The FindAGrave PHOTO POLICY:
- To comply with current Copyright Law, you MUST NOT post (and/or republish) any contributor's cemetery or tombstone photos elsewhere without the original photographers permission.
- Regarding my photos specifically,these are Copyright © by Marianne Fisher. These photo may be used ONLY for personal, informational & internal purposes,when accompanied by my personal written permission.They may not be modified or altered in any way OR posted on any other web-site for any purpose.
My permission for OTHER USES when asked,will be with the added stipulation that you provide a photo source citation by referencing "Find A Grave" or www.findagrave.com along with my name & contributor number in the Description.
~ I want folks to use my photos BUT they must include the above information as a SOURCE.
~ If you feel this or any other policy is meant to be ignored, you should READ THE FAQs, in order to better understand the resulting consequences of inappropriate uses of the content found on this website.

|Jonathan Hart||William Ellis Corey|
Thank you for creating the memorial William Corey, he was a relative of mine. Are you related to the Corey family? Thanks, Jon Hart.
|Family Trees||RE: McKevney|
Thank you, that is appreciated.
It's sunny Florida here, and if you need help in the southeast section of this state, just ask.
Stay safe in the winter white, and enjoy the holidays!
Thank you for transferring my great grand uncle, Hugh M. McKavney to me.
|Cindy E. ||Evans family of Jefferson County|
Thank you for all you have done to make my research so much easier. Punxsutawney is the epicenter for my Evans family. You have found their graves, obits, and history. You are meticulous in your research, and I appreciate that very much. I am looking forward to making a "genealogy trip" one day.

|RAP||RE: Re: Fred Hoberg|
I was in the cemetery last week to look for him but had to quit early due to bad weather. It was milder today so was able to locate Frederick and one other request. Glad I was able to help.

I generally have a message sent to me so I can track it for the 30 day policy then I will contact the folks at Find A Grave to change it for me. You have been a great help!
|FutureAncestor||Marie "Betty" Wujcik|
Thank you Marianne for the message regarding Betty's burial location. I actually found a Calvary Cemetery in Oil City, Venango, Penna and believe that is were Marie "Betty" is buried. I contacted the memorial owner to change the location on the cemetery and will request a new photo.
Have a great day!
Thank you, Marianne, for all you did on the Tiley family and for the transfers to me. My 2013 goal was to find my great-great grandfather's "lost children" and it was only in the last couple of months that I traced two of them from western NY to Clarion and Jefferson counties in PA. It's been so gratifying to make the connections and to meet in person and online some very helpful people in PA such as yourself. Thanks again! Kathy aka Katiedid in NY
