Contributed by Barbara Ledbury, Mar 03, 2002 [email@example.com]. Total records = 1,175.
Damascus Cemetery is located .4 of a mile SW of the Damascus/Boring fire station on Highway 212.
The cemetery started prior to 1855. Land was officially deeded on Apr 26, 1876, for a public burial ground by James Thompson Chitwood and Margaret Chitwood. On Dec 16, 1895, the Damascus Cemetery Association of Damascus, Oregon, was formed.
On May 16, 2000, the assumed business name of Damascus Pioneer Cemetery was registered with the Oregon Secretary of State.
Researched and organized May-Dec 1999 by Ilene Rounsefell & Barbara Ledbury, Secretary & Board member with some updates to March 2002 using tombstone inscriptions and sexton records.
Several of the listings have no death date listed or no dates listed at all. Their names were on the stone with their spouse or other person choosing to share the marker with them and apparently are still living. For these the comments of no date or no dates have been placed after their given name. It also is possible that at the time of burial the survivors forgot to engrave the marker, or they could have moved and been buried elsewhere.
If anyone has information or corrections, I would like to hear from you.

Hi Barb, I've decided it's no biggie. Don't know why it bugged me in the first place. I've trekked around that cemetery a lot in the past taking pictures, and it is time consuming but fun. I will just take joy in what I'm doing and not worry about what/how others do their thing. Sorry that I complained in the first place. Hope you have a wonderful day.
P.S. I had Windows 10 and hated it. Finally got rid of it. :-)

My photo was posted in 2010.

I am wondering why you have added TS photos to several that I had already entered about a year before your photos were added. Seems like unnecessary overkill to me. A few years ago I added a picture to a grave at Damascus that already had a photo because I thought my picture was better/clearer. The man who had added the original photo was furious with me and demanded that I remove my photo. Is there a protocol?
You're very welcome. Do you know how Guy and Sarah Arnold (#90108410 & 90108448) are related to the Pattens? They are buried in the same lot.

You are quite welcome. It was my honor.

You may make copies of the Briggs and Popp Family. They were relatives of my wife Carolyn Dugan Campbell who died in Johnsburg, IL in 2014.
Carolyn's great grandfather was Frank Popp and her great grandmother was Anna Briggs Popp. Her grandmother was Iva Popp Glick who was married to Sheldon Glick.
I got the pictures from Gertrude Glick Dugan who is Iva's daughter and Carolyn Dugan Campbell's mother and still alive at 95. She was married to Maurice Dugan who is buried in Houston, Tx.

I know. ...it is disappointing. So many grabbed like that.

Thanks for taking the photos of her gravesite.

I uploaded a photo of her marker at Hillside to the page you created. If you don't want it on there let me know and I will remove
