I have worked on my family tree since I was 19 years old. Love the searching, researching, grave-walking, and talking with others who like searching for their ancestors! My favorite:|
Your tombstone stands among the rest:
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out -
on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn -
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet, each of us are cells of you:
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse -
entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled,
a hundred years ago -
Spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew -
That some day I would find the spot;
And come and visit you?

|Susan Appleton||Abernathy/Morgan family of Coweta County, GA|
I am researching Hannah Abernathy who married Ezekiel Morgan and moved from Newberry County, SC to Coweta County, Ga with many other families from the area. I believe that Hannah Abernathy's mother was Martha (aka Patsy) Appleton who married George Abernathy in Newberry County, SC and had (I believe) 4 children together with Hannah being the eldest. Do you know if there is a family Bible or other source that would indicate anything on Hannah's parentage/siblings, etc. Thank you for what you do in helping others.
|Jess E. Bromley||Samuel C Bromley|
How could he have been in the civil war and died in 1848, 13 years before the war broke out?
I see that date on the headstone but isn't there some mistake here and if so maybe a note is in order.
Just wondering, not trying to be critical in any way.
Thank you very much

|Geraldine Littleton||Horton/Youngblood Cemetery|
My name is Geraldine and I was taken to the old Horton cemetery in 2011. No one could have guessed it was up on a mountain. Have you ever been to the Ayers Cemetery near Indian creek? I read you message on our forgotten love ones and it is well said and beautiful. The other Horton Cemetery has no sign, it is just on top of the mountain.
We all so went to the other Horton cemetery that was down the mountain with the men and separate bath room toilets for women. It too is a beautiful place and it is well kept.
Do you still go to the cemeteries? I could look at maps and maybe show you where the other one is.
I don't think I got all the rocks, but we sure tried. If a person had water and a small brush maybe the older stones could be read that I could
Thank you so much for all you have done.

Do you know where Mary Ophelia Morgan McCullough is buried? She was the wife of Giles?

After searching my family records, I have discovered that this man possibly is my great-great-great grandfather. His birth date is 1770 in Netherlands.Death 27 Dec. 1845 in Dallas County, Ark.
His spouse was in 1786 Martha Kelly...in 1824 their sibling was Dolly Turella Cook and this is my great great great grandmother.She was the spouse of John Anthony Shoemaker.
