New Hoy Family Member: I would Love for you to Visit my new memorial for John "Doc" Hoy and leave a floral tribute. I found his very sad story in an Omaha Newspaper from April 1899. I have no idea what Hoy family he actually belongs to, but have adopted him to mine, nevertheless.

Thank You,

RE: Hello Again....
Thanks, Kathy. I looked at Otillia's gravesite and it's really a thrill to see it. My biggest problem is on the other side of the family line, my father's side. He died in 1974 and I never learned much of anything about the Christensen family. I'm glad he had an unusual first name, Courage, because it helped me find a couple of things. His father's name is Mathias Nodskow Christensen (as I JUST found out recently) born in Denmark in 1881, and his mother's name is Esther Dorothy Westin, born in Sweden in 1882. Dealing with records in these Scandinavian countries is way beyond me, but I'm not sure that matters. I'd just like to know where they were from! I've found a few things through the free sites, and I'm enjoying the search. I have a granddaughter now, so it makes the hunt even more precious. :)

connecting again
Hi Kathy, you may remember connecting a few years ago before my mom, Grace Pryor's daughter Helen "Ging" died. We were living in New mexico then, but have moved to NY to care for my husband's mom. I recall that you and I have no blood connection, but my grandmother Grace and your ancestor Lorena were step-sisters. I'm beginning to do more genealogy now and wanted to thank you for all the invaluable information you've supplied me about our family! It makes it so much simpler to track when I have good, solid lines to start with. Many thanks again!

RE: Wiley Chapman Langford
Do you have any information documenting that he is indeed buried in Sheridan, such as a newspaper obituary or such? It is quite likely that he is buried in our Potter's Field and all records of burials there were lost in the early 1980's....long story!

The only ones that we know of in Potter's Field are the ones that were fortunate enough to get a stone somehow.

I think I am going to take a picture of our Potter's Field and post it to Mr. Langford's page along with a brief caption about potter's field.

RE: Wiley Chapman Langford
No, there is no Wiley Langford to my knowledge. I noted that someone left a photo request, but I cannot find him in our records.

RE: Family Transfers
Thanks Kathy....I will contact Laurie Fischer. No, she is not my sister. Don't know who she is, but my dad's father was one of 11 children, so is probably a relative somewhere, somehow!

I know how much time can be spent on cemeteries...
Worth every moment!

RE: Re: Victor & Vera Hecht & Earl Dettmer
Hi Kathy....Yes, I am the clerk of the Sheridan Cemetery. I would happily accept the following memorials....I don't know if they are all yours or not.

Donald Fischer
Victor Hecht
Vera Hecht
Neal Thomas
Harold Thomas

All are in either Sheridan or Sheridan West. Donald is my dad, Victor & Vera my grandparents, Neal my father-in-law and Harold my husband's Grandfather.

I would also accept my second father, Earl Dettmer and his first wife Beverly. They are in Sheridan West also.

Contact me at any time with any questions about Sheridan or its "residents" there!

RE: Adam Hay
Kathy, I agree it's sad when there is no headstone. In this case, I see that he died in 1933 at the height of the Depression -- people were lucky to have food on their tables! That may account for the reason there is no stone.

Multiple Frederick Vernier's
Just a heads up. I am trying to clear up some confusion over two Fred's.

Frederic J. Vernier Memorial# 72401032
This one with middle inital "J" was born 1834 in France and died 1913 in Williams county, Ohio. I have attached a photo of this one's death certificate to his memorial. The 1900 and 1910 US Census show Fred J, wife Susan and son Julius. I have found a birth record for their daughter, Eliza 1875, but haven't found an earlier census. It appears they only had two children.

Fredrick Vernier Memorial# 69714189
There is another Fred with no middle initial who was born 1833 in France and died 1881 in Nemaha county, Nebraska. In the 1870 US Census this family is living in German tsp, Fulton county, Ohio and in 1880 is in Nemaha county, Nebraska. Wife's name is Catherine and five children are Sophia, Mary, August, Adell and Jane Jennie.

Jane was connected to the wrong Fred on F.a.G. and I requested a change. Similar error in has been corrected. My head is still spinning a bit, but I think my notes are all straight now. Jane is my mother's aunt. Let me know if you have any questions.
