Between working on my own family genealogy and starting to self study the American Civil War, I have found myself visiting cemeteries all over PA, MD, WV, VA, and anywhere else I may find myself on my travels.|
Any of the photos that I added of headstones MAY be used by their family.
Some of the names in my own genealogy are:
Fathers side: Imhoff, Bewley, Overly, Weaver, Eby, Shirk, Snavely, LeFevre, Parke, Rohrer, Landis, Vasbinder, Oberlin, Myer (Lancaster and Chester Counties in Pennsylvania)
Mothers side: Schell, Lontz, Hawk, Matter, Paul, Romberger, Reinoehl, Leitzel, Ritzman, Bordner, Welker, Klinger, Bender, Lebo, Minnich (Dauphin, Schuylkill, and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania)
If there are any corrections or additions you would like added or fixed on any of the memorial pages I added please feel free to contact me.

This memorial needs to be corrected. The Charles E. Hoover that died on December 13, 1924 is the grandson of Samuel Hoover. He was born on October 21, 1924. He was the son of Charles E. Hoover and Margaret Machamer

Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City, Schuylkill Co: you posted a photo but the inscription is hard to see. Do you think you could try taking another photo? I will be glad to put a photo request in for her. I will be putting in requests also for her father and sister, who should be nearby.

Please check their 2 sons, Walter and Ralph, because they also have duplicate pictures of stone. Darn glitch. Thanks!!!

Find A Grave is having some glitches when adding photos of the markers. On the one mentioned it has 4 photos; therefore, would you please delete 3 of them. A couple of days ago I added a photo and it came up with 2 of them....sigh. Thanks!!!!

You are so welcome! When I got the photo yesterday I noticed his veteran's flag holder sunk in the ground with only two points showing, but I couldn't pull it out. I called the local VFW and, in less than 24 hours, they had the marker out of the ground, placed and a flag flying proudly again! I will get a photo of the headstone, Civil War flag holder and flag in the next week or so.
I saw you were looking for more info on Jesse. I don't know what you already have but, there is info on the back of his Veteran's burial card:
Private Bewley, Jesse L
Bates History Vol 3 Page 917
Bates History is online, wonderful reading! I'm guessing, since you are studying the Civil War, that you are familiar with it.
If you need anything further from my part of Penn's Woods, let me know.
Happy Hunting ~

Thank you so very much for the two photos for the Overly family. The service you provide really helps families connect. I really appreciate your time!
|Christopher Peters||John F. Nelson|
Good morning, I see you have a page for John F Nelson, husband of Rebecca (Heberling) Nelson/Behney. I was wondering if you have any further information on John as he is my 2nd Great Grandfather on my Maternal Grandfathers side (Leo C Gibson). Any help would be much appreciated as I seem to be at a dead end with him.
