I did notice that the message I sent yesterday did not get to your box until after 9am this morning. I do not know why that would happen, as that means you did not have one last opportunity to respond. That said, I have been at this with you for almost five months.

So while I apologize that you did not have an adequate opportunity to deal with yesterdays message for who knows why it was sent to your box today, I still feel I must ask for intervention. It would be nice if we could deal with this as Thompson-Choctaw descendants, not in an adversarial manner.

Mr. Stevens: I had hoped you would have at least responded today. I do not understand your unwillingness to cooperate with a relative, but regardless. I have issues I must address and this needs to be resolved now rather than continue to wait and something you are obviously not going to act on appropriately.

Therefore, in lieu of anticipated non-action on your part, I have submitted the following to Find A Grave:

To whom it may concern:

First, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful product you have put together as Find A Grave. I have been a member for less than five months, but have attempted to link numerous individuals for family searching their loved ones. It is a great source and wonderful memorial for those we missed that are no longer with us.

My reason for writing, is that in attempting to put correct and additional information on my great grandfather's site, I have hit a snag. For many others I have corresponded with people and met new relatives. However, I can get no assistance from the person that maintains and created my great grandfather's site. The information on it is from my Worldconnect Project site, as the nickname "Windy Bob" was directly from my database. I have no problem with the individual using it, I just wanted correct data and additional information included on there.

Therefore, after his refusing to reply to me through Find A Grave Messages, the Suggest or Correction box your site and through personal e-mails, all of which have went unanswered, I am forced to ask that this site be transferred to me. I know he is active and has seen my requests, as he made one change. The site is for Robert Lee (should read Robert E. Lee) Thompson (#28967133). I am his lineal line and great grandson. His son William (#130902679) my grandfather, then Charles, my father (#712330019), then me. The person refusing to assist me and refusing to transfer the site is John R. Stevens (#46999994). Mr Stevens is a relative distantly, as he descends from my great grandfather's uncle. He is not a lineal descendant. I have spoken to other relatives about him, who have had issues and it is from them I was able to determine he is a Thompson descendant but again not lineal. In addition to my self only my son and three grandchildren, are the only ones that still have Robert's surname. I have also spoken with a number of other lineal descendants (through his daughter's) and none to my knowledge are Find A Grave members except me.

I have followed the instructions on your pages under headings "How do I correct an error in memorial data"? "How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me"? and "What if a member will not transfer my relative to me"? The last one is where I am forced to be at this time. I have been attempting to resolve this issue now for over four months with no success and I feel I have no other choice. I am therefore asking that Find A Grave intervene and transfer the site to me for future maintenance, corrections and additional family data. I am sorry for feeling the need to ask this of you as I was not able obviously to resolve this on my own. I will be looking forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me on this matter.

Respectfully
J.C. Thompson (#48435001)

It should not have had to come to this in that we are kinsman, you just not being descended from my great grandfather.

Mr. Stevens, I have attempted to work out something with you multiple times on my great grandfather. You have not put the additional info needed on the site. you have not responded to this forum or personal e-mails, yet you made 1 correction, so I know you have seen them.

I have talked to several family members about you. Yes you are a relative but a distant one and not lineal. So your refusal to transfer perplexes me at the least. The following is Find A Graves policy on transfer to lineal descendants who wish to add considerable data. As his great grandson, I am entitled to the transfer. Please read the following:

"What if a member will not transfer my relative to me?
If the memorial in question is a direct relative within four generations (siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents) to you and the original submitter is not direct family, then they must transfer the memorial. If they refuse to transfer your relative to you, contact info@findagrave.com and we will work on it for you.
Please remember that there are thousands of contributors to Find A Grave, and it is highly likely that some of those contributors will actually be part of your family tree and share some of your ancestors.
Also, the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it."

I do not want to force the issue, but do not understand your reluctance, since this is MY, not YOUR direct line, nor do you know sqat about him except what I have put online, which you copied to make the memorial.

If I do not hear from you by Thursday, I will be forced to go to Find A Grave to have it transferred to me. Note also, I have spoken to all known lineal descendants of his and I am the ONLY one who is a member of Find A Grave and the only one, save my son and two grandsons who carry his surname. I am looking forward to hearing from you or seeing the transfer ASAP.

Dear Sir, again I write as I have seen no e-mail or other correspondence from you regarding my great grandfather. Although I have spoken with other cousins and realize you are family, descended from Robert's, father's brother, ie: a cousin, you are not a lineal descendant. This is my great grandfather and I have data that I want included on the memorial.

Per Find A Grave rules, I have this right and the right to see it transferred to me, if I so desire.

Since I could not get you to respond directly, (although I thank you for making some of the connections I had entered, which that took a while) I must request this site be transferred to me or I will ask Find A Grave to do it for me.

If you know who I am, then you know I am the Chairman of the Mount Tabor Indian Community, of which, you sir are a descendant. What I am attempting to do is tied to projects we have ongoing. Your lack of cooperation, is impeding some of said projects.

So for the last time, please transfer, MY great grandfather, your 3rd or 4th cousin, to me.

As we get our website back up and if the community seeks to restart the federal acknowledgment project, perhaps, it will make more sense as to why I am so adamant about this. Had the changes I requested been made in a more timely manner and I not thought you were inactive, I wouldn't have felt the need to request this. Since I have bio data to add and it took this long just to change a few things and link a few people (you still have not added E. to his middle name (Robert E. Lee Thompson, see Choctaw application for citizenship 1896 and/or Smith County probate records 4/8/1873), it would be more prudent to take over maintenance of the site.

I await your response.

Dear Mr. Stephens: I have attempted to reach you about corrections as well as seeing if will transfer my great grandfather Robert E. Lee Thompson, to me and have yet to get a response. I know that Find A Grave has had some technical problems recently, so you may have not gotten my messages.

Since I am trying to link him to his parents, as well as add considerable data regarding his attempt to enroll as a Choctaw by Blood on the Dawes Roll, and tie him to his family that were enrolled, I really need to ask you to please transfer him to me. I have spoken to other family and none are members of Find A Grave but me. Only his daughter Maime's line is not in contact with us. As for her, I am linking her to her parents as well, so there is nothing that indicates any involvement of her line. I am not familiar with any Stephens being a part of my family from Robert on. So if you are related, I can assure you that I am his closest descendant that is a member of Find A Grave.

I may have mentioned that I am part of a group that is doing a genealogical project on the Mount Tabor Indian Community in Rusk County, that he is a part of.

Your timely assistance in this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and establishing this memorial, as I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Respectfully

I am the gg grand-daughter of Warren Penny. James Thomas Penny had another daughter named Mary Lillian and she is my grandmother. Do you know Killie is the correct name? And do you know where Killie and James L McLaughlin are buried? Also do you have information on Annie McLauglin besides her birth year? Any info would be helpful.

warren penny
are a relative of warren penny and if so do you know where his son James Thomas Penny is buried and I am also looking for one of James's daughters who died in 1916. One of the census has her name as ( _ily) and some have her as Killie Penny who married a McLaughlin and they had a daughter named Annie Lorene. But I can not find any information on a Killie Penny McLaughlin. If you have any information on them I would appreciate it very much. Thank you and you can contact me at dianemilligan@verizon.net
