I love Find a Grave! In addition to all of the wonderful information and helping us locate our ancestors, I feel it is a way to bring the deceased back together as a family. Being able to link relatives to one another gives me a great sense of joy.
I am happy to transfer management of any memorials that aren't for my own family members, just ask! If they are within my family and I have a closer relationship, I will be happy to add any information you have. I wholeheartedly disagree with those who will only transfer based on "Find a Grave guidelines." In my opinion, those guidelines should only be relied upon when there is a dispute, not as a blanket rule. It actually makes me very happy when someone stumbles upon an ancestor that I added and wants to take ownership. That's what this site is about -- reconnecting! :)
Hi Jenny... Hello :) I see you are actively adding new grave profiles to the Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack. Im wondering are you local? Are you researching or, doing as a hobby, like I do? There are a few names who are interred there, and hoping someone might grab a photo of them. Im also looking for 'possible' people interred there. or at other neighboring towns in rockland co... would you be interested in helping? a list of 10-20 max names... let me know... cheers RC
Found a family genealogy on Google Books Will be perusing this published family genealogy to figure out this family. I would lay odds that Isaac Johnson is her brother. I have changed the dates on the memorial. I did locate a family genealogy matching the exact death date that was 1810! Three cheers. Between the two of us, we will knock em dead...wink!
Onderdonk Jenny, He is not a relative of mine either. It is very difficult to check all the corrections that come to me and lots of times I accept what is given as I have no way to (easily) disprove it. I am going to change the dates to the one matching the stone. And also erase what I can of the links as I believe they most likely don't match either. It is possible the info matches his parent ~ but I have no way (easily) to check that. I post the memorials so people can find their relatives. I don't have to time to research their families and still research mine. Thanks for bringing the discrepancy to my attention. Cindy
You are the BEST. ... You are correct. Sometimes find a grave processes things when I don't do them. Been a bit frustrating to me with these kedits. Thanks ever ever so much for all your hard work Jenny!
