Bio Photo Feel free to use my photos for your genealogy research, but please mention that you got the photo from findagrave.
When I do headstone hunts, its nice to get a thank-you from the requester! Also, when writing to me, add a salutation at the beginning, and a thank-you at the end! Ignoring simple polite manners will get your request deleted.

Use a mirror to reflect the sunlight off of the stones lettering. I have a cheap $10.00 mirror that is about 4 feet high. I can hold the mirror in one hand, and take the photo with the other hand.
Another place to find your ancestors gravestone photos is on: http://www.flickr.com/ just search for their name.

A complete and searchable listing of the Hale collection is now available on ancestry.com. To find it, click on "search" at the top of the screen. Bring down the drop down list, and click on "card catalog". Then, in the search box, type in "Hale". Then click on it, and you can do a name search. Be advised that not all names come up.

If you live in the East Haddam CT area and are interested in helping to preserve this cem, please email me. At the moment, there are only three people who are taking care of this cem, and two of them are in their 80's!!! We need people who have ancestors in this cem to contribute! Thanks!
I had no recollection of that but I know how hard you work trying to get the correct info on there.

I have run into the same thing where people are asking for a photo of a headstone and there will already be one on there they say they want and UPDATED one from a headstone from 1800 or something--as if it will likely to look better 10 yrs. later. Or you check w the grave guy and that person is NOT listed or in the cemetery at least w a headstone but they insist on keeping it on the to fill list. Wouldn't be so bad if they did the basic groundwork first. I've backed off a bit filling requests bkz my enthusiasm has diminished when it becomes so rampant. Thanks again. Pat

RE: Old Lyme Cem
Hi Irma,

I have taken a lot of pictures to fill requests, but I don't believe I have ever asked anyone for any photos on find a grave. Could you check and get back to me bkz right now I don't really know which msg you are referring to. PAR

Irma,
The next time you go to Cypress Cemetery in Old Saybrook, Ct, would you please put your mirror on tombstone of Ambrose Kirtland, Sr. I have a picture on there that I found posted on ancestry. It looks like it might be his, but can't read it. R.J.

Dear Irma, Please accept the edits for the above memorial for my wife's younger sister. I have also linked her parents and will make an attempt to make my way to East Haddam to obtain a picture of the headstone. Thanks for posting her memorial!

Dear Irma,
I just wanted to say thank you to you for your hard work. Because of one picture that you posted, I have been able to find a handful of other ancestors that I was stumped on and was at a standstill.
Thanks again...R Koehly
