Hello, Teresa and I have been friends for years but only in the last couple of years did we discover our "unnatural" obsession with cemeteries. Our families think we are nuts and maybe we are but we LOVE being able to help people connect with their loved ones who have passed on. We think that Find A Grave is one of, if not THE best site for family researchers. Each memorial, if you are lucky, has the deceased name, birth and death dates, place of bith and death, place of burial, parents, children, siblings, and can help complete someones family tree. It helps loved ones who live thousands of miles away to be able to see the headstone and/or final resting place of their ancestors. We have made it our goal to find, document and photograph each and every cemetery in Choctaw Co. MS. (where we live), the ones that are known and especially the ones that are abandoned and forgotten. It doesn't matter how far back in the woods we have to hike, nor the millions of virgin thorns we seem to attract, all the mud, water, chiggers, snakes, rain, snow, sleet or hail.......ok maybe not so much the last five things. We are dedicated to our "passion" and plan to venture out to other counties that need our attention. God Bless all of our fellow "Find A Gravers" for all that you are doing for Find A Grave.|
Note: In light of some "negative" messages we have received lately I would like to make something clear.............Teresa and I are NOT in this for the number or memorials added, or the number of memorials managed, or the number of photo requests fulfilled or the number of photos we take. We are also NOT in this for the credit or the recognition. We are in this simply and more importantly to help people who are doing their family history, to find their ancestors to help complete their family tree for themselves and their future family. We are also in this to make sure that people who have passed on have something to show they were here, their life was important and they are remembered..........When we post a memorial or a photo we go to the cemetery they are listed in and make POSITIVELY SURE they are where they are listed. So many times we have photographed someone's headstone only to find out they are listed in the wrong cemetery. If someone lives out of town, state, or even the country and go to the cemetery that their loved one's are listed in, only to be disappointed because they can't find their stone anywhere. We have also noticed that sometimes even the obituary is wrong, so we never list someone until we have gone to the cemetery and checked it out for ourselves. We take a lot of pride in what we are doing and it is important to us that we do it right. When we get an e-mail or message of thanks it makes all our hard, but very rewarding work, worth it........

Thanks very much for William Yates tombstone picture!

Thanks. Nannie Boswell Wilkes was my wife's grandmother. She lived in the Winton County area of MS all her life. Most of her kin are buried there in Liberty Church Cemetery.

Thanks for what you do! I am your neighbor in Attala County and started trying to help a cousin photograph all the cemeteries here in the 1990's. She moved off to Texas due to work and I am not able to stand long enough to get the job done. So, I award you (for what it is worth) a gold star!! Only someone who has never cataloged or photographed a cemetery would have anything negative to say about your undertaking. Hot, sweaty work with bugs, mosquitoes, nits and other biting critters. Plus no bathroom for miles and no cold drinks unless you lug those along with camera equipment.
NOT to mention that weather and time erodes headstones over the years. This service you are doing benefits all by preserving our history. Again a big hearty thanks from me and mine.
Now as to the favor....I am in ill health so wonder since I have decided to place a permanent record of my 20+ years of family research online if I might use the Tanksley etc. photos you posted for Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. I have never been able to find it to take my own photos and would appreciate being allowed to use a copy of yours. Thanks~G Oh and if you have them those from Salem and Clear Springs also if they are better than mine. Cameras have improved a lot over the years. Looking forward to hearing from you on this. Thanks!!

|NZiyad||RE: Delete memorials|
Thanks for the deletion. Is it OK to use your pics of Union Chapel Cemetery?

Pam & Teresa, we thank you for setting up memorials of some of our family members who are buried in Louisville, MS, Union Chapel Church Cemetery. However, Teresia Miller is my wife's mother, and we had already set up a memorial (#121534208) on Dec. 10, 2013, for her and made links to her. Would you be kind enough to delete your memorial #143336443 and any memorials for Henry Miller, Frank Miller and Frankie L. Miller that are links to Teresia? We are trying to avoid duplicates of memorials for our family members. Thank you very much.
