Bio

I was raised in New Hampshire. My late parents William Robert Brown Sr #41231507 and Ramona Isadore Burroughs #103030018 are both buried at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, York County, Maine.
My interest in learning about my family lines started around 1962. My maternal grandmother always took me along as a young child to visit graves where family members were buried. This was always done just before Memorial Day to place flowers at each of their graves. She took time to tell me who they were and how they were related. I eventually started writing down what my grandmother told me. I would ask older members of my family what they remembered. Having being raised in NH I just knew the area kept good records about earlier ancestors that arrived in the new colonies. Most of the libraries in New England have volumes of books that have recorded early settlers and their descendants for at least 200 years. Who they married and the names of their children, etc. So, I started my research journey sitting at libraries looking for family surnames I already knew. Writing pages of information, then making copies of pages on any surname that figured I would need to help put pieces together. It became very helpful when libraries started to make an area just for Genealogy. I was as happy as a clam! Thank goodness when the internet arrived, I could start researching from home and then the apps like Ancestry came along and FindAGrave interacted with it, makes things very useful. I've been retired from the workforce world since I turned 62 many moons ago. This research continues and keeps my mind from building cobwebs so to speak. I just turned 74 (2024) and so thankful I can still gather information online as not able to walk cemeteries anymore. I only hope when my candle goes out that someone will create my memorial and connect my parents to me. Which is why I have entered their memorial ID #'s. I have no immediate family member who are interested in what I do in connecting families once they pass on. Bless all of you that take the time to collect information and manage memorials. We are just one big family! Cheers
