Have been working on the Phelps family for many years. Trying to make my way to Kentucky. This is where they were before Missouri. They traveled with the Stice's from Kentucky to Howard County, Missouri. Then on to Scotland and Adair County, Missouri. |
Lately have been helping my mother with the McKinnis side and the Martin side. She has lots of information that she really doesn't need my help. But I just never have put my family on paper. Just really working on my husband family.
Linking the family members are great. Especially for someone looking for family.
Live in Gillette, Wyoming.
(Recently changed my e-mail address) If have made a request and I didn't add information to the FIG memorial, please contact me at new address..

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. I did find Marvin Herman's phone number on the internet. I will wait to call him until I hear from you on what you might find in the obituary. I did search on the internet for an obituary, but I didn't find anything.
|Marj Bisiar||Deanna Herman|
Lillian-Thank you for taking the time to photo the headstone for Deanna. I was hoping that is might provide me with information that would confirm that Deanna was my room mate at the University of Wyoming. The birthdate matches and I do think her husband's name was Herman, but I am not sure. Are you from Gillette and would you happen to know if Deanna's maiden name was Gaddis? I was recently in Gillette and thought I would try to contact her. When I returned home I did an extensive search and found the information that Deanna Herman may have been Deanna Gaddis. I think she and her husband ran a hardware store in Gillette for years. I am now going to try to contact her husband and just visit with him, but I would appreciate any information you might have.

|JeaMurray||Hugh Plenty Hoops|
Please correct name in Cemetery listing. His last name is Plenty Hoops, first name is Hugh. The currant listing shows Hoops as a last name and Plenty as a middle name. You can tell from the headstone that the last name is Plenty Hoops.
He is Crow indian and the last names are derived from an ancestor around 1908. The U.S. required at that time that the indians have last names in the same way we do. So the head of the family at that time kept his name. In this case, Plenty Hoops. Wife could keep her name if she chose but all the children would now carry the last name of Plenty Hoops and were given, or chose, and American first name. (They also were given a Crow name.) The new last name then carried down thru the generations.
This man's spouse is Winona Yellowtail Plenty Hoops, an honored member of the tribe. On her find-a-grave memorial you will find a most interesting obituary.

I was trying to put William's middle name in but was looking at the wrong paper and now I can't get back in. His middle name is PORTER. Very sorry for the inconvience.
