**** NEWS ALERT****
I have Many Relatives, Close and Distant Whose graves were NOT marked due to no funds (1600's- present )or so long ago that the stones have deteriorated into the earth

Family Traditions and Family Bibles and Death Records Let many of us know where they rest. So just because there is no stone does that mean they Shouldn't be included in family lines?

Come on people a true Genealogist digs to find the lines...and doesn't jump over those very important limbs of many trees just because there is no marker to prove that they lay X <-- here.

Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.

I have been an avid cemetery hunter for at least 35+ years, My Mom had us (her children) off gallivanting cemeteries when she started researching my fathers Sutphin clan in the 70's

While growing up many a weekend was spent looking for long lost graveyards and feeling the excitement of finding the final resting place of our relatives..
All of her children when traveling still go through the local phone books for any Sutphin

What Mom instilled into us is a gift in my remember and honor those before us and never forget where we came from.

Thank you Mom for being my inspiration and my hero, Without your Love, Support, knowledge and patience of my endless supply of question and your roomfull of notebooks and your years of listening to the family histories told to you by so many this Crazy journey would not be possible.

My Lines of research are are Sutphin, Gilmore, Glick, Goads, Nesters, McPeak and all related families in my Beautiful part of Southwest Virginia

My husbands family lines are Armentrout, Argenbright, Blackwell Burns, McGown and Tylers of Rockbridge County Va. and surrounding counties

I happily accept any help ,corrections, new Friends and family members.

We are all on the same quest of finding our forefathers and our kin :)

A lot of the pictures I have posted are newer graves, when I cemetery hunt, I take pictures of all the stones and resting places new and old, that time or weather will allow I never wish to upset any of the families..I simply am trying to save some steps for future genealogist and maybe allow a family member far away to see a picture of their kins final resting place.

Many of the stones I attempt to photo document need a little enhancement to read the names and dates..due to the controversy of shaving creams, chalk and other sources..I use Herbal Choice, an all natural shave cream.

Special thanks to my Find A Grave mates Rita McKale, Ron Stewart, Victoria True, Denise Horton , Rich Kreiss for Your help being a sounding board when I'm frustrated and when I am stuck in a "That can't be right" moments.

A Thank You for his help and patience goes to my Friend Michael Nestor as I attempt to figure out the Goads and Nesters that touch so many of the family lines in My part of Southwest Va.

Thanks goes to my partner in Crime ,My Snake & spider killer ,Bee and Black Bear chaser offer.
My Hubby :)

Hi, thank you for adding my mom's grave. However, she did have a daughter, one child and that was me. I didnt see a mention of my name anywhere. Also her name is spelled wrong on this site. It is Fay with no E and the end. All her brothers and sisters were full blood, no half siblings. If you dont mind, could you make the corrections so that when people look for the history of my mom, it shows correctly? Thank you so much and I hope this message finds you in great health.

Ruby Pickett
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I believe Ruby Pickett is not buried in the Pickett Cemetery at Pleasant View Church. Instead I believe she was buried in the Pickett Cemetery in Wythe County.

The location of the Pickett Cemetery in Wythe County is Lat 36.878436 and Lon -80.805470. Located off Payne Town Road (Rt. 772),it is in a pasture field above the road. The gate is always locked.

Payne Town Road is off Rt 607, Castleton Rd. Castleton Road runs from Rt 100 at Patterson to Rt 52 near Popular Camp.

Ruby's husband and mother in law Etta Swecker Pickett are likely buried in this cemetery as well. Etta had been on the picture wanted list in the Pickett Cemetery at Pleasant View Church for a long time, and no one can find her marker there.

Yesterday, I made a trip to both Pickett Cemeteries. I could see a vault in the Pickett Cemetery in Wythe County, but the gate was locked and no one was around. Drove over to the Pickett Cemetery at Pleasant View church and could see no evidence of an impending burial.

You can check my information with Vaughan Guynn McGrady who buried Ruby and Mr. Reese at the Reese funeral home in Austinsville who buried Etta.

Best regards, -A

Martha Horton Baker OB Bower Funeral home, Pulaski
I was not aware that you were having hearth issues. I hope things are improved by now.

I saw that you entered Frank Baker in Memorial Christian Church Cemetery in Draper

His wife Martha is at Bower funeral home and they have a nice OB for her at their sight. Would you be so kind to enter that and connect to her husband and son Burleigh.

Thanks so much.

Emazetta Hylton was married to a Sutphin and I see you have them posted. Thank you so much for doing this. I think we are kin! Are you on Ancestry and have you had your DNA tested?
