I began my genealogy researching after my father mentioned that he wanted to know what happened to one of his aunts on his father's side. He didn't know his father since he passed away in 1935 just after he was born. He didn't know a thing about his grandparents on his father's side either, so my search began. I wanted to locate information, any information that I could gather for him. |
After I received marriage and death certificates for some of the relatives, names started fitting into place. I found it interesting and intriguing. The journey has taken so far 3 years and I still have a long way to go.
I am now searching for locations of graves/headstones for many of my relatives so that I can let my father know where they are resting.
I am hoping that this site can help me find the relatives long lost. Maybe some of the family headstones that I add can help others in their search, as well.
Family names include: Thompson, East, Roope, Roop, Rupe, Hudson, Wolfe, Loftis, Lewis, Wilbourne, Wilburn, Wilborn, Nance, White, Bond, and many others.
I am having difficulty in locating graves for many relatives. I know where they passed away but where they are resting is a mystery. Maybe some day they will no longer be mysteries.

|efberry||RE: Gladys Irene Haynes|
I did find a Gladys Irene Haynes in Franklin County in the 1930 census...she was black, and 3 years old at the time. This might be her.
I feel badly that the obit didn't tell of any relatives etc. and that she was not buried where it said. Maybe the funeral home can release the information on where they actually took her.

|Michael Dean||Death Location for Walter E Allen|
Find A Grave Memorial# 77871504 - Walter E Allen and Beulah Delores Dean - Census records indicate that the couple lived their entire adult life in Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee. There is a City Directory on Ancestry that is mistakenly indexed as Bristol, Virginia in which the Allen's are listed multiple times. The street address for the Allen's in the Directory is exactly the same address as listed in the 1940 Census, Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee. Also, the Find-A-Grave entry for Walter E Allen indicates the death place incorrectly as Bristol, Virginia. The hospital he died in (Bristol Memorial Hospital) is located in Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee.

I noticed that you have added a grave to this cemetery in mecklenburg, va. This cemetery is listed twice with the other entry having about 46 entries and the one you used has only 3 graves entered.

|Pat W.||RE: Wanda Duncan|
Wanda Evelyn Duncan Hayes is my cousin's aunt (his father's sister).
Her brother Eugene Roscoe Duncan was married to my mom's sister (Emma Lee Denny Duncan Nimmer) and her cousin Richard Lee Hayes was married to another of my mother's sisters (Dorothy Elizabeth Denny Hayes).
I do all of the family research for my mom's family - including all of the various branches, my dad's family, and my husband's family.
I'm one of those "annoying" researches who likes to keep research accurate and support everything with documentation - the more the better.
Because Find-a-Grave is free, I like to provide researchers with the most accurate information without violating privacy of the living and copyright laws. I was going to enter information about my dad's sister one day and discovered that an entry on Find-a-Grave has been recorded before the funeral service was held. That was upsetting.
I hope I answered your questions.

Connie. of course I will always give close relatives memorials to their family, I just wish to do edits, family links ect. myself. If you need any help with your Bedwell genealogy let me know. Thanks for all your work on Find A Grave.

Absolutely. I will do that for any of the memorials that have been transferred to me and those I created.

|Pat W.||Wolfe Family|
I noticed that you have Wolfe's listed. I'm related to some Wolfe's out of SW Va. Do you have an Ellen V. Wolfe in your line?

|Anonymous||Highland Emmanuel Cemetery|
Hello, I believe you have surveyed the Emmanuel Cemetery on Highland Road. It now has a sign out front indicating it is the Montgomery Family Cemetery. I am hoping you would know how to get that name added to the Find A Grave Emmanuel Cemetery.
Recently the obit for E B Morris indicated he was to be buried in the Montgomery Family Cemetery. Find A Grave would direct anyone searching for that cemetery to an inactive cemetery on RT 601 in Pulaski County.
Turns out, EB was buried in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery which is beside the Montgomery Family Cemetery.
Two cemeteries, side by side, with two names each.
Anything you can do or cause to be done to more accurately describe/locate these two cemeteries would be helpful.
Thanks, Best regards, -A
